Who Will Play Green Lantern’s Girlfriend?

El Mayimbe over at Latino Review has posted an exclusive report on the pool of actresses that are said to be in the final rounds of consideration for the role of Carol Ferris, the lady love interest of The Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.

Now, the list of actresses who will possibly star opposite Ryan Reynolds (who will be playing Hal Jordan) is a pretty nice collection of former or current TV and/or film stars. All of them are hot – some of them are even good actresses. We have a nice set of photos for you to look over and consider, which is certainly not a bad way to start your Monday.

If you remember, we got our first notion of how Carol Ferris would be portrayed in The Green Lantern earlier this fall when the casting call for Green Lantern supporting roles was released. here’s what the filmmakers said they were looking for:

Caorl Ferris is the daughter of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris, and has a crush on Hal Jordan.

Now that you have some context, take a look at the list of lovely ladies Latino Review has pegged for the final rounds of consideration:

I confess that my ordering of these photos isn’t random: in considering which actress would handle the role best and would also share the best onscreen chemistry with Ryan Reynolds, my top pick is definitely Jennifer Garner. Blake Lively? No thanks.

Please also take into account: in the comic books, Carol Ferris eventually goes from being Hal Jordan’s love interest to being Green Lantern’s nemesis, Star Sapphire (see header pic), after she is possessed by a violet sapphire stone imbued with light powers much like Green Lantern’s emerald power ring (see the history of that story by going HERE).

It’s too early to tell just closely the storyline of The Green Lantern (more likely the sequels) will follow this particular mythos of Ferris’ character, but in case it goes that way, the actress playing Carol Ferris would need to be able to tackle the role of Star Sapphire down the road. For my money, Jennifer Garner works best for that.

Well, if we're looking for an actress that's on par with Ryan Reynolds, I think that Blake Lively is probably the best choice.

On a serious note, I generally agree with the people who suggested Jennifer Connelly, but out of the options above, I'm in favor of Diane Kruger.

My vote would be Jennifer Garner. Maybe because if the film does great, she could be used as a villain in a sequel say,
Carol Ferris AKA. (Star Sappire) ? Her roles in Daredevil & Elektra are different and are in the past. Anyways, Aswell as the film turns out great i'll be happy.

you're absolutely bang-on with the mention of serinda swan for the role. absolutely gorgeous woman and she's already appeared in a DC comics role as Zatanna in smallville. she could be a perfect carol ferris even tho the competition is between the other 4.

Garner is a terrible choice, does no one remember how she nearly ruined Daredevil??? Hence why her character is almost completely ostracised from the directors cut.

Out of the choices above, I'd like to see Eva Green take the role, she is very hot and I love her voice. Plus she has worked with Martin Campbell before.

Kruger has a more cold hearted look here. Just based on the facial expression. As always though the choice of actresses never seem to measure up to what's put on the comics page. I wouldn't pick any of them if I had to go by the comics. I could never make it in casting, I'd hate it. It has to be in the top five suckiest high profile jobs in the industry...

@Kofi Outlaw D'oh!---not your suggestions, got it ;D That said, guess the fans have no choice but to live with whichever lady the studio decides to cast. i'm seldom happy with the casting choices the studios make on comic book adaptations.

Jennifer Garner = not hot. Girl has the face and hands of a man. Shave her head and she could be a man. I've talked about this for years and every guy I have ever asked thought she was a dog. I have seen her in two different movies where someone (not me although I wanted to clap after) barked like a dog when she came on screen. Ghosts of GFs past was the last one. So many other hot girls and he falls for the manly one. Man Face, Man Face, Man Face!!!! please anyone but her. I cannot watch her as the love interest in a movie. beauty is only so important but for the love of heaven I'd like to have at least a little in my green lantern movie. I'm pretty excited for this film but if she's in it I will automatcily cease to care.

Why isn't Jennifer Connelly on this list? She would be perfect! Well, except she is getting up in years. But she is only 2 years older than Jennifer Garner. Connelly has black hair and blue eyes, just like Carol in the comics. And she has a smart and sassy air about her, just like Carol.

I agree with an earlier poster - Garner is already settled in as Elektra. Diane may be good. Keri is too sweet. I don't watch GOSSIP GIRL, so I know nothing about whatever her name is.

Why is Eva Green on this list? She is an OK actress, but she is very average looking! Come on!

Which one has the biggest, um, "assets"? She can then fill out the costume pretty well! :P

Garner could do it, but I think Kruger would be better.

On a side note, isn't it funny how much the classic picture of Carol looks ALOT like Lois Lane? :D

I think Emily Blunt could be a good choice, however; can she actually lose the accent and play a proper American character? I've only over seen movies where she spoke in her native dialect.
