A new trailer for Graceland has been released that sets up the premise of this unlikely pairing while introducing some of the supporting characters, including Venessa Fertilo (Death Proof) as Charlie Lopez, a DEA agent and potential love interest for Warren.
From the trailer, it can be gleaned that each Graceland episode will focus on a different undercover "mission" that forces Tveit's character, Mike Warren, to handle a situation he wasn't adequately trained for. Like Eastin's White Collar (and many USA series for that matter), Graceland promises a unique pairing as the streetwise Briggs helps mentor the fresh-faced Warren. However, as the trailer teases, Briggs is a bit unsure of Warren's status as a high profile recruit, which should cause some tension later on down the line.
Fans of current USA hits like Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, and Common Law - or the recently canceled In Plain Sight - should find something to enjoy in Graceland, which continues the network's trend of unconventional law enforcement series. There also appears to be plenty of action, intrigue, and just a hint of romance to keep the typical USA fan satisfied.
At the moment, USA has a 12-episode order out for Graceland, a typical first "season" for the network's shows. But given Eastin's success at the network with White Collar (and the response USA executives reportedly had to the show), we wouldn't be surprised to see it counted among the network's regular slate by its second season.
Not only were USA's executives reportedly extremely impressed by the Graceland pilot, they even went so far as to pick it up outside of their typical primetime schedule. This move would allow Jeff Eastin to work on both White Collar and Graceland with little to no overlap.
White Collar season 4 continues tonight with its 10th episode, and Graceland premieres in summer 2013 on USA.
