The latest preview for the upcoming fourth season of Gotham highlights the arrival of Scarecrow and the effect the villain will have on the city. When Gotham returns in just a few weeks, it will bring more of the DC Comics pantheon to life. Villains like Riddler, Penguin, and Selina Kyle will move closer to their comic book counterparts, and new rogues like Professor Pyg will emerge. Meanwhile, a number of existing characters will be undergoing some transitions.

Following the finale, Butch will morph into Solomon Grundy in the new season of Gotham. The character has a long and colorful history in both comics and TV, so it will be interesting to see how the show handles the massive zombie. Likewise, the young Jonathan Crane will reemerge after all these years with a new version of his father's fear toxin. When he arrives, he'll show up as a full-blown Scarecrow, terrorizing Gotham and igniting a race to stop his spree. Now, we have our best look yet at the villain thanks to a new promo.

FOX has released a new trailer for the fourth season of Gotham that teases how the story will kick off when it returns later this month. It looks as if Scarecrow's arrival will throw the city into chaos, pitting Gordon and Penguin against one another as they attempt to stop the serial killer and his gang. The preview also offers our best look yet at Scarecrow's costume, borrowing a number of elements from the comics.

We can see that Scarecrow's mask is both a tattered sack over his head and a gas mask, echoing various designs from over the years. One shot even shows him with a scythe, something that bounds to excite fans of the eccentric villain. And along with Scarecrow's uniform, we also get an even better look at Bruce Wayne's new crime fighting outfit.

Yesterday, two new banners for Gotham teased Bruce's suit, but the new trailer spotlights the costume in action. Along with Penguin and Gordon trying to take down Scarecrow, it looks as if Bruce will step into the action as well. We know Gordon will be hunting down Bruce, or at least Gotham's newest vigilante, so things look to be tense when the season starts.

The trailer also shows us more of Selina in action as she slowly becomes Catwoman. And despite the apparent death of Barbara last season, we see her back and sporting a new look. Likely, many more surprises will be in store for fans when Gotham premieres this fall.
