Good Green Lantern News: Anton Yelchin Denies Rumors

Published 5 years ago by , Updated February 15th, 2014 at 4:25 pm,

A few days ago we talked about the possibility that Anton Yelchin was in the running to play Green Lantern. This came from the generally very reliable Latino Review, although it was definitely classified as rumor.

Well today IESB.net reports that they got the latest right from Yelchin himself, and it’s good news for Green Lantern fans.

According to the good folks over there Yelchin had this to say in regards to rumors that he had auditioned for the role of Green Lantern:

“I had no idea about that…I have no clue.” He continued, “I have no idea. I think I’m probably too young. I mean, no one has approached me. No one has said anything to me. I imagine I’m just too young. I mean, it’s a great character but i don’t know anything about it…I haven’t heard anything about it.”

So there you have it, Green Lantern fans. It seems that Latino Review was mistaken and Anton Yelchin is NOT in the running to play Hal Jordan.

We stated this was rumor but at least now it’s been completely laid to rest. icon smile Good Green Lantern News: Anton Yelchin Denies Rumors

  1. I’m dancing a jig right now!!

  2. LOL, greenknight you are on the ball, bro. :-)

    Oh, and so am I!

    Vic

  3. Ok Vic Now it’s time for the Ren & Stimpy “HAppy, Happy, Joy, Joy” song!!

    High five…over and out!! :)

  4. Guess someone was pulling our leg big time… Good. But I guess it’s too late for him to say he’s not Kyle Reese right? Damn…

  5. Do you think that John Stewart can be done? After all, he can mesh better with batman while Hal Jordan meshes better with superman.

Just a thought, considering that batman is more popular.

  6. Let me say that I don’t now nor did I ever think it was true however him stating this doesn’t lay the rumor to rest completely. Most celebrity’s will deny or say that they have not been approached until something is finalized. Sometimes studios even instruct actors to avoid talking about it. I think the rumor was ridiculous and laid it’s self to rest on the pure stupidity of it, but him simply saying what he said does not mean much.

On that note I still back up David Borianez (SP?) as GL I think he is the perfect choice.

  7. Hey, can’t take him away from Bones, dammit.

  8. People film movies on top of doing TV shows all the time. If it meant taking him away from bones I wouldn’t support it, but he will be ok. Then again Bones has been disappointing as of late with what they have done to two of my fave characters.

  9. Glad that bullet has been dodged!

  10. Swwet Jesus thank GOD!!!!! No MTV Abercrobie Lantern Please. If they want to do that use emo angsty CW Kyle Rayner. Hal Jordon is early 30′s William Shatner-Kirk.

  11. David Borianez would probably fit nearly any superhero role well. Just check out angel.

  12. Really Daniel? I haven’t been watching the new episodes because I’ve been trying to watch the series in order from the beginning so I don’t want to spoil anything… Damn, that sounds disappointing though…

  13. What about James McAvoy?

  14. So to give you an idea just how bad this could have been:

When my 6-year old daughter saw the picture of Hal next to Anton above, she asked: “Daddy, is that little boy Green Lantern’s son?”

Bullet dodged. Crisis averted. The first round’s on……um……Ken J :)

  15. Hey! I like Anton Yelchin!
And besides, I heard he was going to be playing The Flash, not Hal up there – Methinks he’d suit that part.
Yeah, I think Green Lantern should be played by a guy a bit older.
    Yeahhh… Cool.
    :]
