‘Gone’ Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Battles Phantom Serial Killer

Gone Trailer Amanda Seyfried Gone Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Battles Phantom Serial Killer

The trailer for Summit Entertainment’s Gone is now online, featuring Amanda Seyfried (In Time, Dear John) flexing both acting and action chops as a slightly unhinged girl trying to save her sister from a serial killer who may or may not be real. Gone also stars Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan and Socratis Otto.

Check out the synopsis for Gone below to get more details on the film’s story:

When her sister disappears, Jill (Seyfried) is convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years ago has returned, and she sets out to once again face her abductor.

The twist, of course, is that the killer did his job so well (except for letting Jill escape) that no one actually believes he is real. But that isn’t enough to stop Jill, as you’ll see in the Gone trailer below:

Gone was helmed by Brazilian director Heitor Dhalia, who has several single-word-title feature films under his belt (Drained, Adrift) – none of which have likely been seen by most American moviegoers. The thriller was written by Allison Burnett, who is likely to be more familiar, as the writer of films like Autumn in New York, Untraceable, the Fame remake, and the upcoming Underworld Awakening.

After seeing this trailer, I can only say that I hope Burnett has found a good hook for this story. Post-Fight Club cinema is littered with wannabes and copycats that tried to take the “twist” of a main character who may or may not be in touch with reality and turn it into a movie that ultimately implodes upon its own predictable, convoluted, and contradictory narrative. See Dream House for a recent example of what we’re talking about (or rather, don’t see that movie).

We’ll find out if Gone is one of the better or worse psychological thrillers when the film hits theaters on February 24, 2012 (a date that does not bode well for the quality of this movie).

I don’t know. I haven’t liked anything Seyfried has done so far and this trailer hasn’t convinced me of her. Also, there’s something off-putting about her eyes to me.

I guess this explains she has only acted in Roms up to date. Not very convincing when she has to show emtions other than a love stricken fool.

Yeah, as much as I’d like to see Amanda Seyfried naked – she probably won’t be naked in this movie.

Looks like one for the dollar theater.
