Now that the Academy Awards have tapped Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane as host for their live broadcast next year, the Hollywood Foreign Press decided they should bring in some fresh talent for the 70th Annual Golden Globes. In fact, they've brought in two talents.

NBC announced today that Saturday Night Live veterans and Baby Mama co-stars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globes when they air live January 13th at 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC.

Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly says, "The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action. The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show's 70th anniversary!"

NBC  and audiences already love Poehler and Fey for their respective successful comedy series Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock, which both came after their career-making turns on Saturday Night Live. But the comedienne duo has been bringing the funny for decades since their time spent at Second City (an improv group in Chicago).

However, the real draw for their hosting duties comes from their consistently funny appearances at these kind of awards shows. Here's a stunt organized by Poehler at last year's Emmy awards, featuring Fey and all of the nominees for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series:

And at this year's ceremony, Poehler also brought the funny in a speech mix-up with Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, which you can watch right here. But the real joy comes from when these two work together, as evidenced by this political sketch featuring Fey and Poehler as Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton:

This is probably the best choice for hosts that NBC and the HFPA could have made. Not only are they established comedians and writers, but they hit both the young and old demographics. Of course, making awards shows enjoyable is no easy task, so we'll have to wait and see how they pull it off next year.

The 70th Annual Golden Globes air live January 13th at 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC.
