New Game Plus mode in God of War is the ultimate endgame activity for players once they've completed the journey to Jotunheim with Kratos and Atreus. God of War's New Game Plus is a great way to relive the story while holding onto all the equipment and skills players unlocked in their first playthrough. Having more skills throughout the entire game allows players to experience a more intense Kratos, and they'll need it for everything that New Game Plus includes.

One of the best features of New Game Plus mode is that players do not have to worry about which skills to upgrade first in God of War because their skills from the first playthrough already carry over to the next. Having the skills unlocked earlier in the game doesn't mean players will be able to defeat enemies easily, however.

Before they can start New Game Plus in God of War, players will first have to complete the story and get through the credits. Afterward, a New Game Plus file can be started from the main menu. It will appear on the same save file on which God of War was beaten.

As players might expect of a NG+ experience, everything in Kratos' inventory will carry over when players begin a GoW NG+ mode, such as armor, gear, enchantments, XP, and God of War's Hacksilver currency. Additionally, players will be able to begin their New Game Plus journey in God of War with the Blades of Chaos already in hand.

What God of War's NG+ Mode Changes

God of War's New Game Plus mode allows players to select their difficulty again and choose any of the four options. Regardless of which difficulty players choose, however, all enemies in New Game Plus will scale up in level. Additionally, multiple enemies will have new patterns of attack in God of War's NG+ mode, requiring players to remain on their guard throughout the entire second playthrough.

Players experiencing God of War on PC should explore their first playthrough carefully in order to build up more resources and skills before beginning New Game Plus, particularly because New Game Plus adds more items. In addition to being able to craft more powerful versions of armor in God of War, New Game Plus also adds new armor sets, enchantments, and talismans that further improve Kratos's stats.

As soon as a New Game Plus file has been started and players reach Brok for the first time, they can craft God of War's Armor of Ares set, as well as a new tunic for Atreus that contains the powers of all three Legendary armors from the first playthrough. Furthermore, a new resource called Skap Slag will allow Kratos to craft Perfect Rarity armor.

What God of War's NG+ Doesn't Change

Collectibles like chests, artifacts, Odin's Ravens, treasure maps, and Jotnar Shrines in God of War do not carry over in New Game Plus. All story-locked upgrades, like Atreus's arrows or the Blades of Chaos Winds of Helm ability, are not included in God of War's New Game Plus either. All favors and labors, including the Valkyrie fights, are also reset.

However, defeating all the Valkyries on New Game Plus rewards players with God of War's Armor of Zeus set, enticing players to complete the Legendary challenge all over again. When players beat God of War on New Game Plus, they can choose to start another New Game Plus file as well.
