An adaptation of the popular video game God of War has been talked about for awhile now and has been wanted by fans for ever longer. Popular (sarcasm alert!) director Brett Ratner was even rumored to be bringing the game to the big-screen back in 2008 .

With or without Ratner, I’m sure a God of War movie will get made at some point. But while you wait, you can pass some of that time by checking out this clever and rather funny indie version of God of War, courtesy of the guys over at Gamervision.

Some of you may remember an SR Pick we did last August called Inglourious Plummers, an absolutely hilarious fake trailer parodying Inglourious Basterds. The latest trailer from the same team is for a God of War movie done in the style of a Wes Anderson indie movie. You know, the kind of movie that costs next-to-nothing to make but somehow wows audiences nationwide and grosses a lot of money.

Check out the God of War indie trailer for yourself below:

Is it just me or would you rather see this version of God of War than one directed by Ratner? 😛

The Gamervision guys really nailed that small-town indie movie feel that’s the bread and butter of filmmakers like Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums) and Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale). And it’s a testament to the makers of it that I was fooled at first into thinking it was a trailer for an actual movie.
