  1. I think Tauriel is important and her character interested/entertained me most which I think says something of how boring I find those films when a completely made up character does that.

  2. I get a chuckle from the people who complain about Jackson’s screenplay differing from the book. First, every screenplay differs from the books on which they are based. Second, the first Hobbit made over a billion dollars, and the sequel is likely to make close to, if not more than, that as well, demonstrating plenty of interest. Third, so many people are now commenting how they like Tauriel, who was not in the book.

Can’t please all of the people all of the time.

    • Well since your comment refers to mine I will reply to you,
Are you sure this isnt a case of the michael bay transformers effect, where the well known and liked franchise is why its makin a lot of money but the movies themselves arent really that good or liked

Also Im just sayin if your gonna make shiz up and change things that happen in the book and try to add stuff that ties it more to lotr turning a simple book into a bloated long movie, couldnt you have taken creative license and made the less interesting parts better or taken them out, or done better character establishing moments in regards to action and emotion.
Just sayin if your not gonna follow the basic stuff path, then why not make certain stuff better or at the least streamline it so it doesnt feel long.

    • “differing” is one thing but Jackson made up an ENTIRE love triangle between Legolas and a freakin’ DWARF. I was even fine with Legolas and Tauriel but an Elf being infatuated with a Dwarf would never have happened in a Tolkien book. Ever, Period. That did however explain why they made Kili look so, “pretty” so as to make it a bit more believable (although a pretty Dwarf is an oxymoron in and of itself)

The things Jackson changed from the book just to fit his new bloated story were insane; Introducing Azog (Thorin’s Grandfather’s nemesis), Radaghat’s increased presence, Gandalf getting caught?, having Bilbo take off the ring when first talking with Smaug?! (I nearly had a WTF outburst in the theater!), a chase scene through the mountain, attempting to kill Smaug under a river of gold?, turning Bard’s bow into a Dwarven ballista? (where was the important Thrush!?)…….it just went on an on…….and on. Changes upon changes for the sake of making a damn thrill ride movie instead of trying to even semi-faithfully tell the tale of “The Hobbit”. It felt as if he introduced a few small things initially which rolled downhill and got out of control.

I truly think Tolkien would have been ashamed of what Jackson did with his beloved story.
