The Gifted premieres very soon, and while the internet has seen the mutant side of the story, FOX has now released a new promo that showcases the Sentinel Services on the X-Men TV series. One of the biggest hinges for the story of The Gifted is the presence of the former prosecutor and Sentinel Services employee Reed Strucker, who is forced to go on the run when his children manifest mutant abilities. Now FOX is showing fans the world he worked in and the agency that Coby Bell's Jace Turner represents, via a behind the scenes video.

The video doesn't offer much in the way of new footage from The Gifted, beyond a scene that involves Polaris and Strucker in a prison cell - a cell eerily similar to one that X-Men fans might have noticed holds another metal-bending mutant. Said clip also offers a better look at Blair Redford's John Proudstar and provides another taste of his abilities. In addition to all that, the show's cast break down the Sentinel Services on the series and explain the moral conflict faced by Jace Turner. Comic fans know that most mutants manifest their abilities as children and it's hard to maintain a "good" veneer when capturing children and taking them to a place away from their family and loved ones.

Above all else, this Gifted featurette offers fans a more direct look at the Sentinels themselves on the show. While they're a far cry from the massive purple suited beings who roam the skies hunting mutants (seen in X-Men comics, animated TV series and live-action movies past), these tiny spider robots are an incredible special effect for TV and are willing to put the squeeze on anybody, including Redford himself. It looks as if the bad guys have just as many tricks as the good guys up their sleeves, in this series.

Clearly setting up a conflict between those who have a government-sponsored mandate and the people who are affected by that mandate makes The Gifted a timely piece of programming. While it remains to be seen if the show can maintain a sense of tension and fast pacing beyond its premiere episode, everything from its mystery narrative elements to compelling characters make it look like a show worth checking out.

The Gifted stars Coby Bell as Agent Jace Turner, Steven Moyer as Reed Strucker, Amy Acker as Caitlyn Strucker, Natalie Alyn Lynd as Lauren Strucker and Percy Hynes White as Andy Strucker. They're joined by Emma Dumont as Polaris, Blair Redford as John Proudstar (also known as Thunderbird), Jamie Chung as Blink, and Sean Teale as Eclipse.
