My excitement for this just went up by approximately 44.44%

Dont forget also that Duane The Rock Johnson has been approached for the role of Shipwreck as well. No word as yet whether he accepted or not. Im just tickled pink that they even thought to add Shipwreck finally. Both Shipwreck and Gung Ho have also been described as cameos only. Either way Im screaming YES!!! on the inside. Now all we need is a couple of shots of Cobra Commander and Destro to complete the gallery.

It truly is a sad day in cinematic history when people are “excited” to see the presence of Brenden Fraser and Duane Johnson in a film…. Good lord.

a sad day for you perhaps , Mantis.
I think both Fraser and Johnson are talented and likeable actors who will be worthwhile additions to the Joe cast.

This just ruined the movie for me. Rental for me…. Fraser is horrid, almost as bad as Uwe Boll!

When describing how bad an actor is, it would be helpful naming another actor, not a director that has nothing to do with how bad Fraser’s acting is.

There isn’t another actor as bad as Fraser, that is my whole point!

Personally, although I’ve never been much of a GI Joe fan…the more I hear about this movie, the more I *want* to see it.

Frazier and nano-mites? oh good grief. I don’t care for Sommers anyway, but I thought this might have potential until these new developments.

Maybe Frazier is a great actor, he just takes crappy roles because I haven’t liked any of his movies. Could just be the movies themselves though, and not him.

This thing about The Rock possibly playing Shipwreck - is this a joke?

Nope no joke. The part was offered, just no official word yet wether he has or will accept. Again though keep in mind the parts of Gung Ho and Shipwreck are only cameos. Not fully developed roles that will dominate the film. Just a couple of one shot lines so dont focus too much on this development. Its not like Fraser is the sole star of the film. Its still an ensemble cast that features others much more prominently.

As for the nanomites, well that would explain how Destros mask will be able to move with his face. I was worried about this part. I was envisioning some puppet like look where the mouth was on a hinge. Or worse Doctor Doom style where the only emotion we will see is in the eyes.

Well, this is a big shock to me. I never thought Mr. Fraser would be cast as Gung Ho. Don’t get me wrong I am a Brendon Fraser fan, I think I like him more as a comedy type actor than anything. I liked the first Mummy movie but didn’t really care for the second so that might be where my thoughts are coming from on him. :P

Pete-
Odd that two bigger names (Rock and Fraser) would have cameos. It doesn’t make sense to me, but then again I’m not well versed in hollywood politics. Does it mean they would likely have options for bigger roles in sequels?

I see your point on Destro’s mask. The nanomites are probably some tool he’s acquired for making weapons (the Vipers, bomp, etc.) and applied it to his mask.

Its a Sommers flick. He is probably calling in some big names to pad up the movie some to ensure a decent success. Its hard to tell with these things.

Cool, I’m glad its confirmed. But wasn’t this announced months ago? He’s been listed on IMDB as in the movie for a long LONG time and I thought I read articles on this a while back.

GI Joe is gonna be kickass!

Although i love IMDB its not always right while things are still in production. It even claims as much on each entry. I have noticed that they will post alot of rumored speculation as fact until official news contradicts. But still IMDB is a great resource when it comes to looking up facts about actors and movies.
