Christopher Lamber and Ghost Rider Christopher Lambert Joins Ghost Rider 2 [Updated]

[UPDATE: Lambert has officially joined Ghost Rider 2.]

There can be only one Christopher Lambert (sorry, couldn’t resist) and – if we are to believe the official Highlander FB page – he may be up for a role in the upcoming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Lambert – who played immortal Connor MacLeod in the original Highlander movies and TV series – could join Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth for the Ghost Rider sequel, which will see Nicolas Cage back in black (leather) as the supernaturally-powered motorcyclist, Johnny Blaze.

Ghoster Rider 2 will reportedly revolve around Blaze’s attempts to protect a mother, Nadva, and her son, Danny, from a demonic being called Roarke – a creature familiar with the legacy of the Ghost Rider and how his identity has changed over the course of several centuries. Cage claims that the film will have an entirely different feel from its predecessor and will feel like “less of a Western and more of an international story.”

Production is already getting underway on Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which will be shot in 3D on location in Romania. Crank filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are directing the sequel, which was scripted by the go-to guy for comic book movies, David S. Goyer.

Christopher Lamber in Highlander Christopher Lambert Joins Ghost Rider 2 [Updated]

Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod.

Lambert is known foremost for his Highlander work and the notion that he could sign on for another franchise that revolves around a virtually immortal being with supernatural abilities, well, it seems appropriate enough. There’s no word yet as to who Lambert would play, but based off what we know of the Ghost Rider sequel so far, a not-quite-human character is a likely possibility.

Ghost Rider 2 continues to attract some decent acting talent and has the makings of a sequel that could (perhaps vastly) improve upon its predecessor. The Ghost Rider followup is far from the most-anticipated comic book pic scheduled to arrive in the next two years, but it could make a dent at the box office and attract fans that are looking for fun during the slow-going early portion of 2012.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits 2D and 3D screens in the U.S. on February 17th, 2012.

  1. whoa. i’d love to see Christopher Lambert on screen again, been too long!

  2. MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry couldnt resist :)

    • I want a mortal kombat movie,a freaking reboot!!!!

      • You and me both.I was so anxious for the reboot they rumored for that short film.I thought the new take would be amazing, yet the silly fanboy community cant get past the urban element, thats different from the game

        • Yeah i want a mortal kombat and street fighter reboot….do you think it will ever happen??

          • speaking of another mortal kombat movie… was that trailor real or for a game? anyone knows, let me know…

            • I believe, but am not sure, that it was made as a sort of directorial vehicle for the director who really wanted to do a MK movie.

              • i cant believe my comment made 5 other ones :)

  3. If Connor McCloud joins GR2 then it goes from good to epic. :)

    • DC, you can take that statement to the bank my friend

  4. Okay, Christopher Lambert is AWESOME! I’ve missed seeing him on the big screen, like Anthony said “been too long!”

  5. I cant tell if you guys are serious or not…. CL was a one character wonder. He was damn good at the one thing he did well and that was Connor MacLeod….of the MacLeod clan….

Everything else he did was…… subpar at best. (IMO)

    • He was pretty good in Tarzan from what I remember. It has been a long time since I’ve seen that movie though. Either ways its a Plus for the GR movie.

    • Ever seen Gideon or Resurrection? What about Fortress, The North Star, The Hunted or Knight Moves?

      • Yes no yes yes. I think his best roll was CM and everything else (except for and you are right I had forgotten about Tarzan) he did was not very impressive.

Sorry I enjoyed him in Highlander however everything else I can remember seeing him in was pretty bad. Even his TV appearances on HL portraying his role didnt seem as well as what he did in the movie.

      • The Hunted – a high quality ninja vs modern day samurai flick which Lambert’s casting seems odd at first until the very end, where you say “Ah Hah!! That’s why he was cast!” :) I have it on DVD. But the real treat, other than that scene and the train massacre is the one where Karina is killed off by Head Ninja Sato! (Karina is played by Joan Chen; Sato by John Lone…think, film buffs…think, then wear that sadistic smile off your face!)

I watch that on DVD a lot, because, y’know, hey. Ninjas on the bullet train y’know. And the KODO score!

Knight Moves? Yeah, a bit of an underrated flick. I got that DVD just in time before it was discontinued. Liked the cinematography. Liked the idea that a mystery thriller involved a chess champ!

While I don’t have it, I sorta liked Mean Guns as well, but only ‘cuz it was a low budget inspired knockoff of Battle Royale.

    • I lost all respect with Lambert as an actor when he did that grossly horrible Beowulf film.

      • who knows why actors take the roles they take though. i mean he’s still very fun to watch on screen. he just has this coolness to him still. i have not seen Beowulf though, and i really dont care too.

        • To be honest, that was the only reason I watched the film in the first place, but I wish I hadn’t.

      • True, but it introduced me to Rhona Mitra…

        • Not even the sexy Rhona Mitra could get me to watch that film again. Lambert must have lost a bet to have starred in that film.

  6. I dont know if i’m as excited as all of you Lambert fans but seeing your excitement has me smiling a little at the idea of this Ghost Rider sequel. Not a fan of Nick Cage so much but im a big comic book reader so i wanted to see a good GR film, the first was okay but i have a feeling this will be one of the few sequels thta actually turns out better than the original, i’d rather see Idris Elba play a lead Marvel charecter rather then an add on in this, since he’s playing heimdall in thor, but Chris Lambert im sure will do this film justice. will he be playing that drunk warrior monk charecter Elba was rumored for?

  7. And is it safe to predict that this, Danny kid, will be Danny Ketch, Johnny Blazes long lost brother and also a Ghost Rider. it says Danny’s mother’s name is Nadva and in the comics Ketch’s mother is Naomi…plus this Roarke knows about the Ghost Riders and maybe he’s trying to take out Danny before he becomes one?

  8. So if he chops of Nic Cages head does he become the ghost rider?

Anyone else think he looks like Tom Jane? Or rather Tom Jane looks like him.

    • give that man a prize!! i thought the same thing for years Daniel.Jane is a dead ringer

  9. Danny? As in Danny Ketch? Johnny Blaze’s little brother who as well has Ghost Rider powers? Hmmm.

RAIDEN! Lambert is a nerd legend. Highlander and Mortal Komabt (where’s the reboot?) are pretty good films so his name on GR2 may get me off the couch to see this film.

  10. Fortress is one of those films that’s so awful it becomes awesome! That said, there is nothing good about Fortress 2-Re-Entry, apart from the title :)

    • It was so bad Pam Grier looked bad.

  11. Lambert does have that neat sounding accent- voice, I think this would work. My hopes have raised a little highter. Just as long as he doesn’t chop off heads, shoot sparks from eyes and talk to monkeys.

He has to do all three. :)

No, seriously, I hope he’s cast as an actual comics villain. It’s too good to pass up. Just write him in.

    • i just wanna see the dude on screen again :)

  12. “Ghost Rider, you are humanity’s only hope. You have to enter the tourna… oh, hah, sorry, wrong film. Back at one?” – Christopher Lambert, Ghost Rider set 2011.

  13. I want Robert Downing Jr. to play the role of Ghostrider in the new movie.
