Ghost in the Shell is the upcoming live-action remake of the acclaimed manga franchise following Major. She's a special ops, one-of-a-kind human cyborg, who leads an elite task force called Section 9, which is devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists.

Last week's TV commercial for the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell promised a second trailer and Paramount Pictures has delivered. As a followup to the first epic teaser which we saw debut at a special event in Tokyo, and more recently, the Super Bowl spot, the brand new full-length Ghost in the Shell trailer offers far more action and a deeper look at The Major's (Scarlett Johansson) capabilities as a cyborg cop.

The Ghost in the Shell property received a feature-length animated film adaptation back in the mid-1990s and has a cult following that’s been interested in seeing a live-action take on the world, ever since Steven Spielberg acquired the film rights, as far back as 2008. After spending several years in early development, the project is finally happening under the direction of Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman), with a supporting cast that includes “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbæk, Kaori Momoi and Michael Pitt as the film's villain (shown properly in the film's newest trailer),

Like its predecessor, the new Ghost in the Shell theatrical trailer teases high-octane action in a visually stunning cyberpunk world. While concerns still linger over the casting of leading heroine Scarlett Johansson in what many perceive as an example of whitewashing casting, but the film continues to build hype in spite of that. We will find sooner than later now, whether or not Paramount has a new hit (franchise?) on their hands with this movie.
