The upcoming Jonah Hill/Russell Brand comedy, Get Him To The Greek, hits theaters this summer and now we’re getting a good look at it with the latest red-band trailer.

The existence of red-bands is the best thing to happen to comedy films in a long time. Where a movie might look okay for the mass audiences, red-bands highlight its real essence; raunchy, vile, no-good dirty comedy. And that’s what we love about them.

Get Him To The Greek stars Jonah Hill as a record company intern hired to escort cliche-heavy rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) to his concert at The Greek Theater in L.A. The film is a hardcore spin-off of the character Brand portrayed in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I find it hard to imagine how funny that film would have been without the tremendous chemistry between Hill and Brand. I’ve actually got high hopes for Get Him To The Greek to be this year’s second best hard-R comedy (behind Due Date).

One of the most underrated and beautiful Australian actresses, Rose Byrne (Sunshine, Troy), will also star in the film. Cameos include Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry (Brand’s girlfriend), Pink, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), and Dee Sniders (Twisted Sister).

Oh, and don’t forget Aziz Ansari, who steals every scene he can. I’m just praying  to all the rulers of the universe that Ansari can make the jump to leading man, because we really need more young comedians in lead roles (although I think Jim Carrey’s still got it) and he’s got a great shot.

Anyway, here’s the trailer:

You can never go wrong with red-band trailers, honestly. I guess I should thank American Pie for making awkward sex funny again, because I was getting really sick and tired of fart jokes.

My only problem with the film so far is P. Diddy playing an out-of-control music exec, seemingly trying to imitate Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman bit from Tropic Thunder. But Aldous Snow was the best character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and he certainly deserves this movie.

Get Him To The Greek releases in theaters June 4th with a well-earned R-rating.

  2. I was dying laughing to this, I just hope that they didn't use up all the good jokes and funny parts in the trailer

  3. As much as I hate Russel Brand, this looks hilarious! “Here comes the airplane” hahahahahaha

  6. yep. even in the trailer, diddy reeks. hopefully those were his only scenes.

  7. The only thing I don't like is that Hill's character isn't the same as his character in Sarah Marshall. But it still looks pretty damn hilarious.
