I believe Gary Sinice is a pretty good guy, but wouldn’t look right for the role. Robert Duvall, Bruce Willis… hm, that’ll be something, Bruce Willis as The Lone Ranger, lol.

Oh, how about Tom Selleck? He’s done westerns before, he would be great as the Lone Ranger.

Ah, George Clooney as The Lone Ranger… Does that mean the villain is some oil tycoon and the corrupt sheriff will be someone named Jorge Boosh, or maybe he will save the super intelligent and superior “ahead of the curve” celebrities from us lowly “normal” people?

After watching all 3 seasons of Deadwood, the Lone Ranger seems like a joke, a comedy…
Hearing Clooney say, “Hi Ho Silver Away” should be hilarious.
The Indian purists are gonna have a field day with Depp, as Tonto.

wouldn’t it be cool if somehow, this turned out to be a violent/gritty/suspense movie?
it’s kinda fun to think about movies being incredibly violent and different from the source material. I have that view on a couple of movies, like if they made the new Evil Dead movie really scary.

As for them being “older and wiser” I don’t remember The Lone Ranger or Tonto looking particularly YOUNG and Depp most definently looks younger than he is. I think that was a dumb comment.

I thought Clooney would make a great Ranger years ago when he was up for the Green Hornet. I know he is the stand up kind of guy that Clayton Moore would have liked to pass the mask on to. Picturing him in Moores outfit works for me.

Jerry has approached Aaron Eckhart for the role.
Echart is excited at the prospect and
Depp is enthusiastic and lobbying
for the casting of Aaron.

I agree with the last statement Niall, even though I hadn’t even thought about it. With Johnny Depp as Tonto, he’d definitely get his name in the title.

Maybe they’ll go for something completely different? Instead of using the title character’s names, I mean. Then again, with the companies behind it ( and it being marketed towards commerce ) they’ll probably keep it blunt.
