The newest playable character in Genshin Impact is Kazuha, a 5-star Anemo user who wields swords in combat. As a Support or DPS character, Kazuha is great for triggering Elemental Reactions, but some fans have wondered why Sucrose's Elemental Mastery bonus doesn't affect him. Here's why developer miHoYo has kept this feature out of Genshin Impact for now.

Sucrose, an Anemo user from Mondstadt, has been in the game since it released last year. Her Talent, Mollis Favonius, grants an Elemental Mastery bonus to everyone else in the party that's equal to Sucrose's own Elemental Mastery stats. With the right character build for Sucrose in Genshin Impact, players can make Sucrose's Support abilities and skills even better, and they can use her Elemental Mastery bonus to increase the damage output from more DPS-centric characters at the same time.

The recent addition of Kazuha's Banner in Genshin Impact is the first time a new playable character has been in the free-to-play RPG since Eula arrived near the end of Version 1.5. Understandably, a lot of fans are eager to try to pull the Inazuma swordsman for themselves. However, some fans were worried about Sucrose's Elemental Mastery bonus not working on him. Thankfully, miHoYo has since explained the reasoning behind this decision, and it actually makes a lot of sense.

Genshin Impact: Why Kazuha Won't Get Sucrose's Bonus

According to a recent dev log from miHoYo, Kazuha can't get Sucrose's Elemental Mastery buff in Genshin Impact to "avoid indefinite stacking of in-game bonuses." This is because Kazuha has the Poetics of Fuubutsu Talent, which grants the party an Elemental DMG boost that's meant to be proportional to Elemental Mastery. However, this doesn't use the percentage increase gained from Sucrose's bonus, mostly because of how much it could buff Swirl damage if exploited correctly.

Put in simpler terms, Kazuha can't use Sucrose's Elemental Mastery bonus in order to avoid characters becoming overpowered by players exploiting stacks. Because Sucrose and Kazuha's Talents in Genshin Impact can work off each other, miHoYo is choosing not to grant Sucrose's bonus to Kazuha at this time. In the future this may change, however, similar to how the company continues tinkering with Resin.

For now, however, players hoping to buff Kazuha up with Sucrose's Elemental Mastery bonus may be disappointed. It looks like there's no plans to change this feature for now. Thankfully, Kazuha is a still a great ally to have in Genshin Impact, even if he can't get boosted Elemental Mastery from Sucrose.
