[Minor SPOILERS ahead for Game of Thrones season 7.]

Filming is well underway for next summer’s much anticipated season 7 of HBO’s epic fantasy series, Game of Thrones. The show’s creators have notoriously strived to maintain as much mystery surrounding plot details and potential spoilers as remotely possible; but with the series' extreme popularity and avid (drone owning) fans, containing this information has become more difficult with each passing season.

The latest news comes from a beach in Zumaia (northern Spain) where keen fans and press have flocked to catch a glimpse of the actors on the Game of Thrones set and the action to expect from the upcoming season. New images and footage have just captured evidence of a compelling meeting between two characters - ones with a bitter history to resolve, too.

Earlier this week it was revealed that this Spanish region (rumoured to be the onscreen location of Dragonstone) will host a long awaited first meeting between fan favorites Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in Game of Thrones season 7. Alliances forged between various character factions last season mean that this pivotal event is bound to reunite certain characters; some with scores to settle such as Jon and his foster brother Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), who was responsible for betraying Rob Stark and sacking Winterfell.

Trusted Game Of Thrones community site Watchers On The Wall have published various images captured on site by fans and press that appear to show Jon violently confronting Theon. The footage, although blurry and taken from a distance, seems to show Theon arriving on the beach in a row boat accompanied by Iron-Born. He is met by Jon who is flanked by Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) and what could be Dothraki warriors - hinting further at an alliance with Daenerys. Although tense, the scene looks to end with Jon choosing to walk away rather than exact violent revenge at this stage. WOTW’s images also expose scenes between Jon, Davos and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) that affirm these characters will be reunited in season 7.

Game Of Thrones -Jon Snow and Theon Greyjoy

Now that it has been confirmed that Game of Thrones will conclude with its eighth season, drawing in the many widespread character factions to form unions before the inevitable final battles is a natural occurrence of the complex narrative at this stage. These meetings between characters that have either never met or not seen each other for many seasons are going to be incredibly satisfying for fans who have been patiently waiting for climatic information to be shared, regarding historic and future plots.

Since Game of Thrones moved beyond George R.R. Martin’s published source material in season 6, the speculative fanbase (who can no longer look to the source books for answers) have intensified their desire for plot theory conformations causing a minefield of potential spoilers online that are virtually impossible to avoid for those that do not wish to participate. Although, this is testament to the show’s massive popularity and positive reception of the episodes that have gone beyond the books. Despite these spoilers, we will have to wait until summer 2017 to discover the outcome of these character meetings and their repercussions for the future of Westeros.
