For those who have followed the six-episode, season 1 arc of Games of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series, players have come to know, love, and mourn the family members of House Forrester, alongside their rotating cast of supporting kinsmen and countrymen. The final episode in the first sequence of playable content adapted from the hit HBO series came to a close this week, with many individual plot threads left up in the air -- however final some central protagonists fates might have appeared -- leaving the opportunity for more narrative content to come.

As independent video game developer and publisher Telltale Games continues to branch out in its development of titles adapted from various franchises, such as Minecraft: Story Mode  and Tales from the Borderlands, not to mention the forthcoming Marvel Studios tie-in, it would be unusual for their latest attempt at adapting George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy to remain dormant for long. Fortunately enough, players may not have yet seen the last of Gared Tuttle, Beskha, and maybe even Rodrik Forrester.

According to an interview conducted by THR, Telltale CEO, co-founder, and executive producer, Kevin Bruner, on the Westerosi-themed game has announced that season 2 is currently under development, and will reportedly continue many of the points of left unresolved at the end of season 1. When asked for comment on the many cliffhangers presented at the end of 'The Ice Dragon,' the title of the latest episode in the game series, Bruner stated:

"When we initially announced the series in 2013, we let everyone know this would be a multi-title, multiyear partnership with HBO. After this week's finale, I'm pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series, and that it's currently in development. The questions left on the table at the conclusion of season one, [such as] who survived and who didn't, as well as all the other choices you made, play a huge role in the second season. We've been planning the second season all along, but I really shouldn't be revealing more than that."

Game of Thrones Telltale

Considering the continuous nature of such popular titles from Telltale in the past, such as The Walking Dead, the continuation of their latest venture beyond The Wall and well into the realm that is known to players alone as The North Grove, the continuation of the story already begun was an inevitability. Given confirmation that season 2 is on the way, with plenty of actions taken during the season 1 brought to bear on the narrative once more, the fates of Rodrik Forrester and his late father's other surviving, bastard children may yet develop even further than initially anticipated.

Where players can expect the story to go from here on out is dependent on how they've played in the past, and where they anticipate leading the main characters left alive as the plot continues to unravel and thicken. That being said, players can expect even the smallest decisions made and actions taken after the fall of Ironrath to have far reaching consequences, as "the choices players make in season one set the stage for what's to come," according to Bruner.
