It could be said that Game of Thrones is a series all about arguments. The war between various houses over who gets to sit on the Iron Throne is just one big and bloody argument with a lot of different points of view in conflict with one another.

Needless to say, there are a lot of more personal arguments between characters within the show that nonetheless feel just as big as those battles. These disagreements have big impacts on the show, and while some eventually get resolved, many inevitably end in blood or even death.

When Davos Seaworth finds the site of Shireen Baratheon's burning, he immediately knows Melisandre is responsible for the young girl's death. His confrontation with her is one of the rare times Davos is seen losing his calm demeanor.

While Melisandre attempts to defend herself by claiming it was a necessary sacrifice to the Lord of Light, Davos maintains any god that demands such a thing is evil. The conversation ends with Melisandre being banished and Davos vowing to kill her if she ever returns.

Ned Disagrees With Robert's Plan To Assassinate Daenerys

Though Robert Baratheon ended the Targaryen reign with his rebellion, he still worries that there are members of that family still left in the world that could pose a threat to him. When he hears Daenerys is pregnant, he sees her as a legitimate danger that must be dealt with.

However, his good friend Ned Stark is the only one willing to tell Robert he's wrong to order the death of a young girl. The argument gets so heated that it ends with Ned resigning as Hand of the King. However, on his deathbed, Robert sees the error of his ways and tells Ned to let Daenerys live.

Jon Decides To Rescue The Wildlings

When Jon Snow is named Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, it doesn't take him long to stumble into controversy. With the threat of the White Walkers in mind, Jon decides to let the remaining Wildlings past the Wall so they can be protected.

Given that the Night's Watch and the Wildlings have been killing each other for countless years, this is an unpopular choice. Even Jon's friend Edd isn't on board. Some of the men are so upset at the decision that it ultimately leads to Jon being murdered by members of the Night's Watch.

Littlefinger Manipulates Sansa And Arya

The happy reunion of Sansa and Arya Stark doesn't last too long, as the sisters begin arguing about Sansa's manner of ruling Winterfell pretty quickly. This tension is then manipulated by Littlefinger who attempts to turn the sibling squabble deadly.

With planted evidence and accusations of betraying the family, things grow uglier between Sansa and Arya to the point that Arya makes a veiled threat about killing her sister. But Littlefinger's manipulation is soon discovered and the sisters unite to execute him.

Catelyn Lets Jaime Go Free

As the War of the Five Kings begins, both the Starks and the Lannisters have valuable prisoners. Cersei holds Sansa in King's Landing while Robb has Jaime after defeating him in battle. But when a trade is suggested, Catelyn betrays Robb and releases Jaime in an attempt to get her daughter back.

Despite Catelyn's insistence that she did it for the right reasons, Robb is furious at his mother. He orders Catelyn to be kept as a prisoner for treason, though he still sees her as his most valued advisor.

Tywin Refuses To Show Tyrion Respect

Though Tyrion was successful in his job as Hand of the King and was even the hero of the Battle of the Blackwater, he is quickly forgotten about when his father Tywin returns to King's Landing. Unwilling to be cast aside yet again, Tyrion asks his father to name him heir to their home of Casterly Rock.

Tywin not only refuses to grant Tyrion's request, but he also condemns him as an embarrassment to the family, blames him for the death of Tyrion's mother during childbirth, and wishes he wasn't his son.

Daenerys Learns Of Jorah's Betrayal

Though Jorah was Daenerys's most trusted ally for much of her journey, he was initially hired by Robert Baratheon to spy on her. He quickly abandoned that job to serve her faithfully, but the past eventually comes back to haunt him.

When Daenerys learns of his betrayal, she cannot even look at him as she condemns him. She realizes it was his information that led to her nearly being assassinated, despite the fact that it was Jorah who saved her from the assassin. She shows mercy by not having him killed but exiles him from her service, which is like death for Jorah.

Cersei Won't Join The Fight

After being shown proof of the impending threat of the White Walkers, Cersei surprises everyone by agreeing to join the rest of Westeros in the fight against them. Of course, she is lying and wants to use the opportunity to defeat her enemies.

Many fans wondered what would finally make Jaime leave Cersei, and this is the deciding moment. He refuses to stand by while the rest of the world fights this common enemy. He walks away from Cersei even as she threatens to have him killed.

Tyrion On Trial

While fans were thrilled to see Joffrey Baratheon finally die, it was followed quickly by the horrible realization that Tyrion was being blamed for the murder.

Tyrion's trial is a heartbreaking event as witness after witness lies and condemns him for a crime he did not commit. It is, of course, overseen by Tywin, who refuses to give his son a fair trial. The final shot in the heart is when Shae testifies against Tyrion, leading to Tyrion's epic and passionate speech against the whole court who treat him as a monster.

Jon Gives Daenerys One Last Chance

One of the most controversial aspects of the final season of the show was Daenerys suddenly turning into a villain. And despite seeing her burn a city of innocent people alive, Jon Snow seems to think Daenerys can still be saved.

As she finally stands in front of the Iron Throne, he confronts her about what she did. She justifies her actions by saying mercy can lead to defeat. He asks her to spare Tyrion's life to show she can still be merciful. When she refuses, he decides she is too far gone and kills her.
