The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is inching closer, and a new leak reveals the Galaxy S23 Plus may be getting an improvement in battery life. Some manufacturers have already begun to unveil their Galaxy S23 rivals, like Xiaomi, who recently announced the Xiaomi 13 series in China, but Samsung's next-gen Galaxy S series smartphones are highly anticipated and will be the Android flagships to beat in 2023.

A Twitter user has revealed the key specifications of the Galaxy S23, and it includes details about the phone's battery capacity. According to the tweet posted by Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), the Galaxy S23 Plus will have a 4,700mAh battery capacity. Although this is just slightly larger than the 4500mAh battery capacity of its predecessor, a less power-hungry processor, and a bigger battery might contribute to improved battery life.

Bigger Battery Meets More Efficient Chip

The Galaxy S23 Plus will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (Samsung Edition), which should be more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found inside the Galaxy S22 Plus. The display will remain the same as that of the previous generation - a 6.6-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination, along with the increased capacity, should translate to longer battery life on the Galaxy S23 Plus. What might take a hit, though, is the charging speed.

The leak suggests that the Galaxy S23 Plus will support 25W fast charging, which is a big step down from the 45W charging capability of the S22 Plus and pales in comparison to the fast charging speeds of some of its rivals. In addition to details about the battery capacity and charging speed, the source also mentions the phone will have 8GB of RAM and be available in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. Samsung flagship phones don't have a MicroSD card slot, and this will be no different. There will be three rear cameras on the phone — a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens. The front-facing camera gets an upgrade, going from the 10MP unit of its predecessor to a 12MP selfie shooter.

The leak also mentions the phone will have stereo speakers, support for ultrawide band, and run One UI 5 based on Android 13 out of the box. There is no official confirmation about when the phone will be unveiled, but rumors suggest that the Galaxy Unpacked event will be in February next year. Whenever the launch will be, fans can expect the standard Samsung Galaxy S23 and the stylus-toting Galaxy S23 Ultra to launch along with the Galaxy S23 Plus.
