Liev Schreiber’s Victor Creed vs. Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth

Schreiber then mentioned again what he’d like to see from the character in the future.

“I’d love to find out what happened to Victor… I’d like to find out how my Victor became Tyler Mane’s Victor.”

I think a lot of us are curious about that too. That drastic change of character does leave an opening for the character to return and Wolverine not know who he is later in the timeline, when the X-trilogy began.

In the early scenes of the first X-Men movie, Sabretooth ambushes Rogue and Wolverine while they’re out driving in the snowy north. Wolverine smells him and brings out his claws, sensing the danger. Does he just smell another beast whom he knows is responsible for their car crash? Or does he recognize the scent?

From how that film played out, it can’t be the second option. They have no dialogue together at all and from their battles, they act as if they have no history together. So, if Sabretooth does appear in Wolverine 2 or meets the character again in another X-movie, Wolverine must think he dies and/or after the transformation of Creed to the Tyler Mane variant, Wolvy can’t differentiate and they no longer know each other.

There’s been talk of spinoffs for so many of the supporting X-characters but Sabretooth won’t get his own – His origins were shared with Wolverine’s. Could he be a villain along with Magneto in X-Men: First Class? Maybe Magneto would be Professor Xavier’s partner in the beginnings of the X-Men and we can see the construction of Cerebro. That would allow for tie-ins to other movies in planning at Fox Studios for the future of the X-Men film franchise.

With the Magneto movie getting some attention recently, perhaps that film could end with him recruiting some of the mutants we saw in X-Men. I think it’d be cool to see Sir Ian McKellen have a cameo along with Mystique, Toad and Sabretooth. There’s got to be some reason Sabretooth works for him – maybe he’s rescued from experiments and feels some loyalty as Magneto’s pet?

How do you think they’ll explain Sabretooth’s transition and would you like to see Schreiber play him again?
