‘Fringe’ Season 4 Casts Super Secret ‘New Female Character’

Published 3 years ago by , Updated August 7th, 2013 at 8:45 am,

With production currently underway on the highly-anticipated fourth season of Fox’s cult series Fringe, it has been revealed that Dirty Sexy Money actress Michelle Krusiec has been cast as the ominous ‘New Female Character’.

Krusiec, who has stated that she will be flying to Vancouver this week to begin filming on Fringe season 4, has been tapped to play the recurring role of an as yet unidentified character. Since fans have been chomping at the bit for any type of Fringe news following the shocking season 3 finale, producers have been keeping almost all information regarding the upcoming season under wraps.

This veil of secrecy extends so far that the only comment Fringe bosses will give on Krusiec’s character is that she’ll be playing the role of “New Female Character.” While the title of “New Female Character” hardly lends itself to the fantastic fan hypothesizing that regularly occurs, the fact that Krusiec is now off to Vancouver certainly provides some type of information – although, not much.

With the filming of Fringe season 4 literally just beginning this week, it’s safe to say that Krusiec will at least be introduced in the second episode of the season, if not the first. While any new character certainly provides the platform for speculation of a new series nemesis, one also has to keep in mind the conundrum in which Peter Bishop finds himself.

In reference to knowing ANYTHING regarding Peter’s current situation (though executive producer Jeff Pinker said that all will be revealed in the Fringe season 4 premiere), Krusiec’s character may play a part in Peter’s storyline – that is, of course, if he exists any more.

Even though we know that Joshua Jackson will continue to be in Fringe for its fourth season, fans are still wondering how, or in what capacity. Unfortunately, for those expecting to find answers during the Fringe panel at the San Diego Comic-Con next week, the executive producers of Fringe have already stated that while they’re happy to take any fan questions regarding Peter, providing answers to those questions will result in many explicative-laden responses from people being disappointed by their non-answers.

Since Fringe will be at Comic-Con 2011, make sure to keep an eye on Screen Rant, as we’ll be bringing you live coverage of the panels, and interviews with your favorite stars, over on our Official Comic-Con Coverage Page.

If the Fringe producers won’t give us answers, we can create our own. Let the speculation begin!

  1. Could she playing the daughter of Walter and his mistresses in the other world?

    • i agree. because there was a scene where walternate is sleeping with an asian woman. she could be the daughter. x_X

  2. She’s a beautiful and talented actress. I’m glad to see she is receiving a more notable role.

Her twitter page can be found at: @michellekrusiec :)

  3. SPOILER ALERT:

I hope this is nothing like the disastrous addition of Megan Markle at the start of season 2. She did a perfectly fine job acting the part, but it was almost as if her character blinked out of existence like Peter in the season 3 finale.

I absolutely love this show and couldn’t be happier with how it’s unfolded over the past 3 seasons, but I wish they hadn’t just let that thread dangle the way they did.

  4. Can’t wait to see what her new character is, although I would like to see more of Astrid/Aspirin/Asteroid/Asterisk/Astro :) I hate waiting.

  5. Ive been theorising for a while that peter and walter in the alt. Doomsday 2026 future are where they create walter’s greatest inventions: the observers. Then, from there, they start shipping machine parts thru time via the central park wormhole to 15million bc.
As for peter, i think hell only exist in the alt.future until he fixes his own timeline. It was his puropse to create the bridge at liberty island–but somehow doing that causes things to happen that eventually lead to both peters dying as they were supposed to, or him never even existing alltogether….
Yall can give meh props when it happens. i heart fringe ~ until 9/23/11, keep observing fellow Fringies!!

  6. Really disapointed there was not a SPOILER alert on this report as I am only half way through season 3 and dont want to be hearing about Peter’s (apparent) demise!

  7. why would you read an article about season 4 and a new character if you were in any way worried about spoilers – plus if all you took was ‘apparent demise’ from the above then there were no spoilers and you’re still in for a surprise!

I have no theories on what they’re gonna do with Peter and where this new character will fit in, that’s why i’m so looking forward to the new season so much, i’m interested to see how they find their way out of the rabbit hole.

  8. cant wait to see walter and walternet together working. to discover the who is the guy on on the ballon. i am in love with olive.

  9. Yeah, who was the guy trapped in the zeppelin? And will Walter and Walternate work together to save both univ? Cant wait for new season, counting the days!!

  10. All great love stories boil down to two plot devices for the lovers (in this case Peter & Olivia)to overcome: separations and rivals. In Season 3 they overcame separation (parallel universes). I predict the New Female Character will be a rival for Peter’s love for Olivia–probably in the altverse.

  11. *rubs hands together* hurry up new season >.< I cant wait to see how it works out!

  12. If carlsberg made tv fringe would be on 24/7 love it keep them coming :-D

  13. I wonder why so many people think, Peter may never have exist. Wasn’t his steeling the reason of all this? He was a normal human. The reason of his existence can’t have been just to bring those worlds together to fix the universe. I just don’t believe that!
