With production currently underway on the highly-anticipated fourth season of Fox’s cult series Fringe, it has been revealed that Dirty Sexy Money actress Michelle Krusiec has been cast as the ominous ‘New Female Character’.

Krusiec, who has stated that she will be flying to Vancouver this week to begin filming on Fringe season 4, has been tapped to play the recurring role of an as yet unidentified character. Since fans have been chomping at the bit for any type of Fringe news following the shocking season 3 finale, producers have been keeping almost all information regarding the upcoming season under wraps.

This veil of secrecy extends so far that the only comment Fringe bosses will give on Krusiec’s character is that she’ll be playing the role of “New Female Character.” While the title of “New Female Character” hardly lends itself to the fantastic fan hypothesizing that regularly occurs, the fact that Krusiec is now off to Vancouver certainly provides some type of information – although, not much.

With the filming of Fringe season 4 literally just beginning this week, it’s safe to say that Krusiec will at least be introduced in the second episode of the season, if not the first. While any new character certainly provides the platform for speculation of a new series nemesis, one also has to keep in mind the conundrum in which Peter Bishop finds himself.

Peter and Olivia in the ‘Fringe’ Season 3 Finale

In reference to knowing ANYTHING regarding Peter’s current situation (though executive producer Jeff Pinker said that all will be revealed in the Fringe season 4 premiere), Krusiec’s character may play a part in Peter’s storyline – that is, of course, if he exists any more.

Even though we know that Joshua Jackson will continue to be in Fringe for its fourth season, fans are still wondering how, or in what capacity. Unfortunately, for those expecting to find answers during the Fringe panel at the San Diego Comic-Con next week, the executive producers of Fringe have already stated that while they’re happy to take any fan questions regarding Peter, providing answers to those questions will result in many explicative-laden responses from people being disappointed by their non-answers.

Since Fringe will be at Comic-Con 2011, make sure to keep an eye on Screen Rant, as we’ll be bringing you live coverage of the panels, and interviews with your favorite stars, over on our Official Comic-Con Coverage Page.

If the Fringe producers won’t give us answers, we can create our own. Let the speculation begin!
