10 Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack Paul 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

It’s hard to find a good friend in this world. It’s even harder to find one that’s not from this world. While many aliens depicted in films come to Earth with hostility, others arrive more peacefully. Some are lost, while others just want to be accepted. Either way, there are those aliens in TV and movies that just seem like the perfect addition to any pack of friends.

We’ve picked our ten favorite extraterrestrials and explored why they might be good friends, while also touching upon the cons of an intergalactic friendship in general. Many were considered and didn’t make the cut – like the Arquillians from Men in Black, the Iron Giant and Alf.

Feel free to share an alien or two that you’d like to hang out with if they didn’t make our list – but rest assured, if you ever get an opportunity to hit the town with any of the species our list, you’ll have a great time. At the very least, most of them possess a superpower that might help if you out if you ever lose one of your friends on the rooftop of some Las Vegas hotel. You can’t ask for a better friend than that.

10. Ewoks – Return of the Jedi

Ewoks from Return of the Jedi 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

The cutest aliens in the universe might be great friends in a forest environment, but a city lifestyle seems out of place for the little warriors. If you want to be treated like a divine being by your friends, The Ewoks are your best bet. They will put you on a throne and give you everything you desire. Then again, if they don’t take kindly to you at first, you’ll get poked and prodded with their spears. It is a thin line to walk, but worth it if you come out on top. If you don’t, they might cook and eat you.

Considering their pack behavior, you are unlikely to make just one Ewok friend. They will most likely become a headache in mass numbers. More importantly, Ewoks don’t make for great discussions. They talk in grumbling voices that are incoherent and never seem to grow on you. At first it seems cute, but eventually it becomes a frustrating task trying  to communicate. Also, if you don’t live near the Redwoods in California, they might not be comfortable.

9. Zaphod Beeblebrox – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Zaphod Beeblebrox 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

If you need a good drinking buddy from a distant planet (somewhere near Betelgeuse), Zaphod Beeblebrox is usually locked and loaded with a bottle of Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters. It is best described as being “like having your brain smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick.” Zaphod is the as close as you will get to a rock star in this universe. His charisma ranks with the best and he will definitely show any friend a good time.

The biggest problem with Zaphod is his shifty personality. With multiple heads, he can get a bit testy and unpredictable. These are not traits one picks in a best friend, but it would make any day a little more exciting. While his irresponsibility is entertaining, it also puts you in the line of fire for trouble. If you are willing to challenge the law, and some ethical boundaries, Zaphod Beeblebrox might be a great addition to your Wolfpack.

8. Spock – Star Trek

Spock from Star Trek 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

Loyalty is a virtue that runs deep in Spock’s blood. Even though that green blood is only half-alien, he still earns a spot on this list. Although he lives under a strict code of rules and personal boundaries, Spock has plenty of humanity and it shows in his relationship with Amanda Grayson and his interactions with Captain James T. Kirk. The best part of a friendship with Spock is that you essentially walk around with a living encyclopedia. He isn’t quite Johnny Five from Short Circuit, but Spock is one of the most intelligent half-aliens on this list and that should not go unrecognized.

But Spock isn’t always the best guy to have in your corner. Beyond the fact that he might not take too kindly to friendly jokes about his pointy ears, when he slips into Vulcan-mode, the half-alien side of him is near unbearable. His wealth of knowledge can come off as cocky and egotistical; while many of the key players aboard the USS Enterprise possess this attitude, it isn’t one that would sit well with a best friend – at least not in our book.

7. Optimus Prime – Transformers

Optimus Prime from Transformers 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

Whether you are a high school nerd or a disgruntled employee, everybody could use some muscle on their side. This was a tough decision between Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, but in the end Prime is a much more uplifting companion – and he can speak clearly. While Bumblebee would be more fun in car mode, as seen during the scene with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in Transformers, Prime is just a trust-worthy alien with the leadership quality to pick you back up during a down day.

There is one glaring issue with befriending Optimus Prime: he comes with a lot of baggage. Everything that he left behind on Cybertron puts you in harm’s way and it seems a friend of Prime’s is an enemy of the Decepticon race. If you can handle a lot of explosions and beautiful women running around yelling either expositional dialogue or mindless jokes, Optimus Prime is the perfect friend for you.

6. Paul – Paul

Paul 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

Paul is cool under pressure, always up for a new adventure and knows more government-hidden secrets than a water cooler discussion could handle. More importantly, Paul is one of the few easy-going aliens in the universe. His knowledge of pop culture and cloaking capability (not a spoiler, shown in the trailers) make for a fun night no matter the circumstances.

While Paul is guaranteed fun, he also has the law on his tail (or rather, green butt). A friendship with Paul means a life on the run and not everybody is up for that kind of lifestyle. Paul also has a dirty sense of humor, which can come off as a bit disconcerting at times – especially if you want to have a few serious discussions with your little green friend.

5. Mac, Wiploc, Zeebo – Earth Girls Are Easy

Earth Girls are Easy 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

This trio of colorful aliens are unmatched in the comedic galaxy. They don’t look like much in their true alien form, but it only takes a single full-body shave to expose three friends ready to party. Their most intriguing ability is an instant comprehension of American culture after only a few minutes of watching television. Imagine what they would be like if you spent an entire day hanging out on the couch. But the trio is most fun when out on the town, as they can probably get any man a woman for at least the evening.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what makes a friendship with these three a potential disaster. Of course, they are tremendously irresponsible and might bring you down to their level; in addition, managing three aliens of their caliber at once might become a handful. It sounds about as difficult as taking care of three Links (Encino Man).

4. Doctor Who – Doctor Who

Doctor Who1 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

For heart-pounding adventures across time and space, there’s only one alien you’d want by your side – The Doctor. This dual-hearted Gallifreyan time traveler has traversed the universe for the past 907 years, preventing the destruction of the Earth in multiple dimensions and, at times, sacrificing himself to protect those in harm’s way.

‪Unfortunately, spending time traversing the universe with The Doctor can only end one way – in heartbreak. After death-defying adventures saving planets and species you never knew existed, The Doctor will leave you. Whether it happens unexpectedly during the night, or because the sight of him will cause your brain to explode, there will be a time when The Doctor will no longer be around. For generations this has happened to those before you, and for generations this will happen to those after you. This is, sadly, the cost of experiencing the beauty and wonder that time and space has to offer.‬

3. E.T. – E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

ET The Extra Terrestrial 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

While Paul had no immediate intentions of returning to his home planet, E.T. is another story. This stranded-on-Earth alien was desperate for a helping hand and little Elliott was right there to give it. But E.T. is the very definition of cute. He may not offer much of a helping hand himself, but he is the silent type that will stay home and wait for you to return. E.T. also has some cool party tricks, including a light-up finger and an extending neck.

At times, E.T. can be quite a handful. He complains a lot and is especially picky about his candy. Reese’s Pieces are delicious, but buying them might burn a hole in your pocket after a while. The constant whining about his home planet can also grow weary. The most difficult aspect of a friendship with E.T. is hiding him from the world. If you don’t, federal agents will be knocking down your door, much like Paul.

2. Chewbacca – Star Wars

Chewbacca Star Wars 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

If Chewbacca can get out of his life debt with Han Solo, you might find one of the most loyal friends in the universe. He looks and sounds like a giant space canine and might very well become your best friend. He is also a great shot with a Bowcaster and knows how to fly a ship.

While he loves to play board games, it might be difficult to get competitive. After all, it’s not wise to upset a Wookie. If you beat him, he might rip your arms out of their sockets and that makes for a tightly-wound friendship. While it seems obvious that conversation with Chewbacca is difficult, Han adopted the language perfectly fine and he is a scruffy-headed nerf-herder.

1. Superman – Superman

Superman 10 TV & Movie Aliens You Want In Your Wolfpack

If you need an addition to your flag-football team, it couldn’t hurt to be close friends with Superman. But it is Kal-El’s protective instincts will make for a truly great friend. Harm will never befall you and you’ve even got an inside source at the Daily Planet. In addition, he may even hook you up with one of Lois Lane’s friends.

However, Superman has some serious deep-seeded pain due to the loss of his family and entire race during the destruction of Krypton. I wouldn’t want to be in the room when he has a mental breakdown – and it is inevitable at some point. His alter-ego is a bit of a nuisance as well. Clark Kent is a part of Superman’s personality that will never go away. Unfortunately, he stumbles around like a buffoon and can’t talk to women, so “Clark” out might be a problem.

  1. That image of Superman is exactly how he should look. Take note Zack Snyder!

    Good article.

  2. What no love for Alf?

    • Yeah, I was about to ask that!

      • I had Alf on my top 15 list. Should have mentioned him in the opening paragraphs.

        • Dump ET for Alf

  3. Dr Who should be #1……noone beats the doctor!!!!!! not even sups and specially not chewbacca and ET

  4. GORT – the one from the Michael Renne film, not the remake with Keanu. maybe not the most loquacious cat in the quadrant, but jeez, who would give you a hard time with GORT standing behind you?

  5. I knew Supes would be number 1, even before I read the article. Kudos on that number 1 selection. I would replace the Ewoks with Worf, from Trek: Next Gen and the Earth Girls are Easy guys with Yoda.

    • I would rather party with Darth Maul then Dr. Who or the Earth Girls or Easy guys.

  6. I´d take out Zaphod and Paul to see a stand up comedy show by Alf in a nightclub where the waitresses look like Kim Basinger in “My Stepmother Is An Alien”.

  7. I think Dr Who would be the most fun to hang out with, but I’d enjoy hanging with Spock. :)

    Vic

  8. Frank the dog from MIB … definitely

    • haha he was awesome

  9. jar jar binks? only if i beat the crap out of him two minutes into the night…

    SILVER SURFER!!!!

and whatever they were called in “district 9″… :D

    • I was hurt when the surfer wasn’t on this…
      :-(

  10. Yoda.

  11. Ahhh Li Lu from the fifth element? She was technically an alien.

  12. D’Argo from Farscape. He can watch my back anytime.

  13. I have to add Yoda,Gonzo, and Rodger from American Dad to list of homies.

    • I don’t know if I could trust Roger. He causes too many issues.

      • True, but he is party damn funny.

  14. Bender too

    • R2 D2,Tiwggy,and 7 of 9.

      • 7 of 9 is not an alien. But I do understand. :-D

        • She was part alien tech.

          • Hey, alien or not, I completely understand. She is the Borg that can shag, I mean assimilate, you. :-D

            • Ha, you said assimilate….That’s the only way to go out.

  15. How about The Terminator, the one from T2

    • How was he an alien?

  16. Hell yes Superman is #1!!!

  17. how about lord voldemort? :)

    • Not an alien!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • He sure as hell looks like one :)

      • Can you say that a little louder, please. :-)

  18. Barf ? From Spaceballs

    • Hell yeah , BARF !!!!!!!!

  19. Paul? Did someone see a film recently? Good thing a character’s that’s existed for all of two minutes beat out characters that have been around for 20-30 years.

    • Juan,

While Paul just opened, and I didn’t really like the movie much, the character IS a fun guy that you’d like to hang out with. We do have to claim “mea culpa” for missing Alf, though (unless you’re a cat lover).

      Vic

      • Two cats and a dog.

  20. How about Starman, & Cheech in born in east LA, (They thought he was an illegal alien).

  21. Very nice list, overall. I’d definitely want to spend some time with The Doctor, myself. 8-)

  22. Station from Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. Sure, the movie is not nearly as good as excellent adventure, but Station(s) was/were hilarious and could build remote control robot likenesses from common supplies from a hardware store! And all they say is “STATION!”

  23. What about Mork or the Coneheads. I think that would be great.

  24. I’m pretty sure Han Solo is a scruffy-headed “nerve-hurter”…not “nerf-herder…
