Friday the 13th Part 2 remake What could be more appropriate now that we’re in October than horror movie news?

And yes, that’s right, I said a remake of the second, not the first, Friday the 13th movie.

New Line studio has put writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift on the job. These are the same guys who wrote the entertaining, if not definitive in conclusion Freddy vs Jason movie.

Everyone else is calling this a remake of the original film, but it’s not.

In the original film released back in 1980, the killer turned out to be Jason Vorheees’ mother, with Jason appearing briefly right at the very end of the film. The second movie, which came out a year later was the first full-on Jason-with-a-machete flick. It didn’t take place in Camp Crystal Lake (the setting of the original film) but at the camp right next to it. This movie places Jason at the camp, so it seems to me it’s much closer to the second story than the first.

There wasn’t much substance to these original films, so I can’t really get too fired up on an anti-remake tirade. I don’t even know if “remake” qualifies as a term for this… maybe “re-hash” is a more accurate description.

Anyway, it looks like they’re trying to fast track it to beat the impending strike that I’m sick to death of hearing about. Oh, and if it means anything, Michael Bay is one of the producers on the project.

I would like to see this part two remake..Other web sites are saying he wants snow. Jason in a snowball fight. It dont matter I wanna see more Jason my favorite horror/slasher movie of all time. I dont understand how ppl dont like them. I liked to see derek mears come back as Jason, he made that did a good job playing him. Kane Hodder was is and will be Jason Voorhees tho he brought it to life when he came in. Jason Voorhees lives forever

This movie sounds ok, Jason in the snow, neat.
After this one though can they please make
Freddy vs Jason vs Myers. People have been
talking about this since before the first
FvsJ movie, well even back in the 80's this
was a topic of conversation about who would win
who was the most badass, etc. This movie should
be made. Id get Robert Englund to play Freddy one
more time. Freddy would use Myers sort of the way he
used Jason, Myers scares people, Freddy regains power
but just when Freddy thinks all is going to plan, his old
rival Jason comes to pay Freddy a visit, but he first has to deal with "pure evil" "the boogeyman" Michael Myers.
Then all heck breaks loose. Lots of beer drinking,sex active teens get caught up in all this mayhem.

I'm not ALWAYS opposed to remakes. It's just that most of the time they're awful, pointless and just an excuse to cash in on a known movie.

Well....... I kind of have mixed feelings about remaking Horror films..... They might be better in some cases like i would have never seed the original Phantom of the Opera... if it hadnt been for the remake.....

Not a bad idea. :-) I could be wrong, but he may have been involved in The Hitcher and/or The Hills Have Eyes remakes as well.

Not surprised that Michael Bay is one of the producers. His production company (or one of them) was behind the Chainsaw remake. Wonder what horror remake will be next for him?
