NBC has announced that its Emmy-winning Friday Night Lights will return on May 7th. For those of you who’ve been paying close attention, the series was originally set to return April 30.
Thanks to Deadline for calling this one in from the booth.NBC will be airing the show on, you guessed it, Friday nights from 8-9pm. I’m looking forward to the return of the Taylors (played by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton), one of the most honest, interesting couples on TV. No official word on why the start date was pushed back a week.
Scene Source tells us that the fourth season of FNL has already aired on DirectTV, so you serious fans out there might want to think long and hard about that after the NBC fumble.
For those that need a recap, here’s the original synopsis of the show:
“In the small town of Dillon, Texas, one night matters: Friday Night. Eric Taylor has recently been hired as the head football coach for the Dillon High School Panthers, the town’s pride and joy. Friday Night Lights displays the stress that the town gives the high school players to win, and the hope that the team gives to a small town, and how a team has its low points, its high points, and how they come together as a team on their way to victory.”
More recently, Coach Taylor’s wife, Tami, has become the Principal of another nearby school.
Friday Night Lights will return to NBC on Friday, May 7th at 8pm.
