Season 7 of Fortnite is here, and with it comes all the new skins and accessories players expect with each Battle Pass. This season sees an unexpected crossover with everyone’s favorite drunken mad scientist and Doc Brown surrogate Rick Sanchez from the popular cartoon series Rick and Morty.
Like many of the Battle Pass skins in Fortnite Season 7, Rick has a couple of styles to choose from. In addition to his basic costume, players can unlock Toxic Rick, which is inspired by his goopy double from the Rick and Morty Episode “Rest and Relaxation.” This style, like the basic Rick Sanchez Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass skin, is not available right away, and players will need to do some grinding to unlock this rather exclusive outfit and wear it into combat.
How to Unlock the Toxic Rick Style in Fortnite
The process to unlock Battle Pass rewards in Fortnite has changed dramatically in Season 7. No longer do players simply make it to the next tier of their Pass to unlock an item in a linear chain of goodies. Instead, they earn Battle Stars each time they level up. These stars are then used to purchase Battle Pass reards in almost any order. It’s a significant departure for the series, and it could drastically change how players go about unlocking items.
In addition to the base Battle Pass rewards, there is also a new section for Bonus Rewards. This is where players will find the Toxic Rick outfit. However, they shouldn’t expect to play this green version of the character for a while unless they want to spend real money.
Unlocking Toxic Rick requires 20 Battle Pass stars. Additionally, the purchase can’t take place until players have already acquired 105 other rewards. Additionally, they can’t use the style until they’ve unlocked the base version of the Rick Sanchez skin for play.
To unlock Rick, players will need to reach the tenth page of Battle Pass rewards. This corresponds to reaching Level 90 or unlocking 90 other Battle Pass Rewards. Once the page has been unlocked, the Rick outfit costs 9 Battle Stars.
Players will need the following to unlock Toxic Rick:
- Unlock Rick Sanchez: Reach Level 90, Unlock 90 Rewards, and use 9 Battle Stars
- Unlock Toxic Rick: Unlock Rick Sanchez, Unlock 105 Battle Pass and Bonus Rewards, and use 20 Battle Stars
It is possible to purchase the first 25 Tiers of the Battle Pass using V-Bucks, which will unlock several pages of Battle Pass rewards and award several Battle Stars instantly. However, since unlocking each of the required 105 rewards also requires Battle Stars, it’s likely that players will be well above Level 100 before they can unlock the Toxic Rick outfit and take it into battle.
Though season 7 of Fortnite just started, the promise of getting to take Superman and Rick Sanchez into battle shows how ridiculous this season is going to be, and will hopefully bring players equally exciting rewards. Players want to start grinding as soon as possible if they hope to don Rick’s gooey style before the season ends.
