Fortnite’s latest round of DLC skins has just been unveiled, showing off new guest characters Superman and Rick Sanchez of Rick And Morty fame. Both these heroes have been hinted at by Epic Games in the weeks leading up to Fortnite Season 7, with Rick, in particular, being heralded by his trusty Butter Robot just yesterday.
Fortnite is quickly becoming one of the biggest crossovers in all of video gaming, with Epic adding all manner of guest characters ranging from comic book icons like Thanos and Green Arrow to real-life celebrities like Travis Scott. Even Fortnite’s tie-in comics are joining in on the multiverse-spanning fun, with Batman and Snake-Eyes recently engaging in an intense battle to see which warrior reigns supreme within Epic’s immensely successful battle royale sandbox.
Now Fortnite is adding two more fan favorites to its ever-growing roster of guest characters, as Season 7’s Battle Pass trailer (which is currently on YouTube) just revealed that Rick Sanchez and Superman are joining the game as playable skins. Set amidst an ongoing alien invasion, the trailer shows off both characters, with Rick sporting a cell-shaded look to keep true to his animated roots and Clark Kent ripping open his dress shirt to reveal that classic S logo underneath before taking to the skies. Epic shared more details on when will come with the Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass, which will feature the return of Battle Stars as a reward for players that level up their characters. These Battle Stars can then be used to unlock special rewards, and Rick himself can be claimed after hitting level 100.
As the Season 7 Battle Pass trailer depicts, the world of Fortnite is currently in the midst of an invasion by a shape-shifting alien force. UFOs have begun appearing in the game to abduct unsuspecting players (though these aliens are nice enough to heal them and drop them off in another spot on the map), and the classic alien crop circles have been popping up as an ominous warning of what is to come.
The citizens of Fortnite are going to need new allies to combat this threat, and given their past experiences with aliens, both Superman and Rick Sanchez fit the bill. Rick is especially noteworthy due to his unique cell-shaded esthetic, though his price tag of reaching level 100 could be steep for a novelty guest character. In any case, fans can now lock and load as both the Man Of Steel and the Rickest Rick thanks to Fortnite’s Season 7 Battle Pass, which is currently available to purchase in-game and through Epic's online store.
