SIN187UM says:

So Fifty No Talent Cent will be Jekyll and Forrest Whitaker will be Hyde.

LOL J/K.

I’ll wait for the DVD.

Matt K says:

“50 Cent” can’t act nor rap and Forest Whitaker is too good of an actor for this.

Taylor says:

a worse movie could not possibly be conceived…

SIN187UM says:

@ Taylor

DragonFail Evolution was conceived and hatched so there you go

Daniel F says:

Can I only watch half of the film? You know the half with the talented actor not the one with the no talent hack of a so called musician.

Then again given the choice between watching a movie with Forest and 50 or Watching one with Keanu I think I’ll take my chances with the half dollar hack. I mean I haven’t seen 50 act maybe he is just a bad actor and if so that puts him about two steps above Keanu and Forest is an amazing actor so between the two it looks like Forest is on the winning team. One thing I thought was hilarious about street kings was that it was a bellow average script with some great actors a couple mediocre actors and one of the worst actors to be succesful. Keanu some how got famous because he had no talent. It’s amazing what a dream and a empty head can get you in hollywood.

I thought April Fool’s was last month.

There is no way 50 cent will ever be above keanu reeves, now had you of said Andy Dick that would have been something but that comment is way off.

Andy S says:

Next thing you know, they’re going to make another Robin Hood movie and cast a bunch of thugs, I mean rappers, as Robin and his merry gang. Am I the ONLY one who sees this as a way to pander to black audiences? I like Forest Whitaker and this is such a degrading role for him.

SIN187UM says:

@ Andy S

What exactly is your complaint, and why does it matter if this movie caters to the African-American audience?? There will always be films that cater to a specific audience, so quit whinning and just don’t watch it if u can’t go in with an open mind of another culture’s view of something. And FYI there are already movies out that cater Robin Hood to the African-American audiences, and that have gasp rappers in them.

Daniel F says:

I don’t mind catering to an African American audience I hate the catering to the rap audience that crap sucks and there has been maybe one good actor in the entire bunch. The movies they end up in always end up sucking. Unless you think films like Street Kings and How High are cinema classics.

@ Daniel F

16 Blocks – Mos Def did not suck

Be Kind Rewind – Mos Def Did not Suck

Love and basket Ball – Mos Def Did Not suck

Dangerous Ground – Ice Cube Did not suck

Menace II Society – Celly Cell did not suck

Boyz N Tha Hood – Ice Cube/various others – Did not suck

Street Kings was decent

How High was a weed movie and is fun to watch.

Just because a rapper is in the film does not mean its going to suck. So based off your comment you will not be seeing Terminator Salvation because the whole Movie is going to suck because it has Common in it, never mind anything or anyone else but because a rapper is in it, auto fail, give me a freaking break.

Chuck Peters says:

Well to each his own, but Andy S your comment is weak and is a failure, and sounds like a how dare they cater this to one audience blah blah, when there are score of J & H movies that cater to a wider audience.

daniel F the same can be said about rock and country, about their music stars trying to act. Case in point Alice Cooper – Monster Dog = FAIL BOMB.

Matt K says:

Eminem was excellent in “8 Mile”

SK-47 says:

fiddy aka ferrari not being in the Expandables was the right choice whereas I remember Whittaker not being in the Expendables was for a conflict of schedules. I hope this wasn’t the film which had to take Forrest out!
Its funny, 50 cent, Van Damme, Whittaker, Kingsley, etc. can easily be attached to the Expendables project, then go off, or just say no like Van Damme did whereas this actor on youtube is trying so desperately to be in The Expendables. Even as a victim or whatever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Od4sFlyECw

shame, the guy is really good too!

Chuck Peters says:

Eminem is a crybaby and was in a movie about his own life so he had no choice but to be decent in it.

Daniel F says:

16 Blocks – Was ok at best

Be Kind Rewind – Did suck hardcore wasn’t all Mos Def’s fault though Jack Black can take some credit as well.

Love and basket Ball – A bellow average film

Dangerous Ground – Yea sorry it did

Menace II Society – This film was terrible

Boyz N Tha Hood – Ok at best

Street Kings – Was a good awful excusse of a film with only roughly two good actors in the film. Rapers were not the only bad ones though Keanu sucked ass to.

How High – Sorry there was nothing fun about this movie unless you count pouring gas on it and watching it go up in flames.

You’ll notice I said one rapper was actually talented and that was Common. Also I didn’t say the film will auto suck with a rapper I said that so far all the films have sucked. At least the ones I can think of.

Chuck Peters for the most part I agree with you. Rock stars and country singers do poorly as well. Musicians needs to stay out of movies.

Andy S says:

@SIN187UM…

Sorry if I offended you, man. It’s just that they’re taking iconic characters who ARE white and using black actors to put a more “ethnic” spin on them. This generally does not work well and will not draw a large audience. Remember “The Honeymooners”? How well did that movie do?? Can you imagine a white guy (Christian Bale) playing Mohammed Ali?? (Yes I know it’s fiction vs. non-fiction, but my point is valid I believe.)

I have nothing against there being movies to appeal to a certain audience, including a black audience. We all like different things. I personally think all the movies you mentioned were God-awful pieces of garbage, but that is my opinion and why there are so many different types of movies made. However, I feel it’s wrong to purposely destroy a mythos to appeal to a certain audience. Would it be right if Superman was shown as being black? Or what if Storm was portrayed by a white woman? Certain characters have a certain look and changing that to appeal to a narrow audience is wrong and just a quick grab for cash.

Chuck Peters says:

@ Daniel F

There is no ok at best at the films you have commented on, and unfortunately your prior comments do lead people to believe you have predetermined a film to suck based on rapper/rappers being in them. If they can act, then they can act regardless of rapper or not. I look at films like Clerks and Mallrats as meh and ok at best with sub par acting and mediocre wit strewn through out.

Daniel F says:

As I said Common can act the reason most films with rappers suck is that the vast majority of them can not.

I wasn’t a big fan of Clerks, but Mallrats is a classic.

Daniel F says:

Also I wanted to add what the hell does Mallrats and Clerks have to do with this subject. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember them including musicians.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

While I agree that Common is a good actor, he’s not the only rapper/actor that is good; anyone remember Will Smith?

Daniel F says:

I have a hard time considering Will Smith a rapper. He wasn’t exactly the normal style of a rapper he was like rap for kids. Which don’t get me wrong I respected just saying not your normal rapper plus he isn’t really a rapper now.
