New Footage Of Prince Of Persia & The Surrogates

Over the weekend, video interviews for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and The Surrogates found their way online and both reveal scenes from their respective movies.

The first interview, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, talks about the Prince of Persia movie and its lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Interlaced throughout the short video, we see some footage of training sessions and scenes from the movie.

It sure looks like a big budget action epic. I really hope this movie is good; the genre really needs it to be, to give hope to the other forty or so video game movie adaptations in development.

Next up is an interview for The Surrogates with director Jonathan Mostow. Similar to the Prince of Persia video, we get to see quite a few little pieces of footage from the movie including many of Bruce Willis with hair (well, his surrogate avatar) and some creepy robot stuff.

Most of what we see is pretty action-oriented and it looks very cool. A lot of the video plays like a trailer for the movie so I’d expect the official full trailer and more marketing for Surrogates to debut soon. We did get a cool viral poster for the movie two weeks back, so the marketing should soon gear up with the movie releasing later this summer.

I’m interesting in seeing both films although I don’t expect much from Prince of Persia. While the video game it is based on is great, the movie added lots of stuff not in the game, and that usually doesn’t bode well for any video game movie. Oh, and it’s a video game movie…

    Love the Prince of Persia games and am looking forward to this movie but when I first heard about it I was hoping they'd get a guy like Tony Jaa to play the Prince. Then he could do all the moves from the games without effects!!
  • I lost faith in video game movies a long time ago, but the surrogates looks pretty interesting and besides it has bruce willis in it. (people say my step-dad looks a lot bruce, I think so too =D)

    Prince of Persia, I'm not too sure about, it looks like something I would wait until its on the comcast free movies list.

    Surrogates I want to see because one, a coworker of mine worked on the movie and he had nothing but good to say about it, and two because of bruce willis.

    You know, while thinking about it, Jake might pull PoP off. Like what Paul Rudd says about matt damon in 40 Year Old. Watching PoP there is the chance that in the theatre I might say: "You, I always thought that Jake was a sissy-boy girlie man, but, he's really kicking some ass in the movie!"

    Surrogates looks really good. Hopefully as good as Minority Report or Total Recall. Hell, hopefully even as good as Blade Runner (Although not likely).

    I've seen very few Bruce Willis movies that weren't entertaining on some level, so I'll be there for Surrogate based upon that alone.

    Conversely, I don't really "get" Jake Gyllenhaal. I mean, he seems like a nice young chap, but the footage really didn't look like anything particularly new or fresh.

    So, thumbs up from me for Bruce, and a wavering thumb for Jake.

    the surrogates is a must see Bruce and Sci-Fi fit so well.
    i got all "12 Monkeys" Reminincent there for a moment.

    It looks both interesting but kind of corny at some points, but doesn't matter since Bruce Willis is in it, so I'm gonna watch it regardless.

    I thought the exact same thing, POP looks like Scorpion King/Mummy. They did not capture the feel of the game at all in the trailer or in any of the photos released. Really sad.

    I must say out of both, I am really interested in Surrogates. Bruce Willis and Jonathan Mostow--who did direct a very good T3, imo.
    Prince of Persia, kind of looks something like The Scorpion King. Although I did enjoy that film but I thought the first footage of POP would be much more grander.

    Paul Young, you left me laughing at your comment sir! Very true, and a big DUH, Jake! This is a major blockbuster picture with lots of money put into it, what, you think Bruckheimer and the people involved are putting their energy to make something stank? haha...ah, Jake.

    I will most like see The Surrogates because of Bruce, but I get the feeling it's going to kinda end like I, Robot.
  • Well everyone knows how I feel about video game movies and this just proves my point. Does it appear to anyone else that they aren't trying very hard to make this movie appealing? Jake says "When you see thousands of people putting their time and energy it a movie like this, it's amazing". Well, duh Jake, that's what they are suppose to be doing. When people, especially the stars of the film, start talking about how hard people are working instead of how good the film is, it just doesn't bode well. Almost as if they know the movie is going to suck and they want an 'A' for effort.

    Please, oh please, movie gods, if you can hear me, let this movie be good.

    Couldn't they have picked a better promo picture of Jake to circulate? I mean the guy is one headband short of becoming Michael Flatley. But maybe the studios are reaching out to that 18-35 homosexual gamer demographic for that extra edge during opening weekend.

    Looks pretty cool! The footage of Prince of Persia reminds me of the Mummy movies.

    I mean Bruce Willis is Bruce Willis so I'm definitely there for Surrogates ... regardless.

    Prince of Persia need a good trailer but it has peaked my action gland.
