On this week's episode of The Flash, tragedy struck. In 'The Wrath of Savitar', the God of Speed continued to get inside Wally's (Keiynan Lonsdale) head and managed to manipulate the young speedster into doing exactly what Savitar wanted - taking his place within the Speed Force. Now, Barry (Grant Gustin) has to journey into the Speed Force itself to try to find his protege and bring him back to Central City, and it looks like that's the journey we are going to focus on in next week's episode.

We've already seen a spooky teaser for 'Into The Speed Force', which reveals that the Speed Force is a confusing place full of strange visions. Plus, Barry is going to have to deal with some ghosts from his past - and now we have more images of these resurrected characters.

The CW released 18 photos depicting Flash in the Speed Force, alongside four different characters who are returning for this episode. Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) appears in his Firestorm costume in three of the images. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) is in two, and Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) and Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) each appear in four. The final five images show Flash either alone, or near Iris (Candice Patton) and Joe (Jesse L Martin). Take a look in the gallery below:

We know from the teaser for this episode that these ghosts appear in the Speed Force, so it's likely that they are projections of Barry's mind, rather than real people trapped in the Speed Force the way that Wally is. It's likely that these characters are going to be bringing up some of Barry's fears and issues, as well. For instance, he feels responsible for Ronnie Raymond's death (which occurred in the singularity that Barry created), and he may well feel some guilt when faced with Eddie as well. Not only is he partially responsible for Eddie's suicide, but he's now engaged (sort of) to Eddie's fiancee. The only character shown in the Speed Force who isn't currently dead is Jay Garrick. It's possible that this means that Barry enlists Jay to help him in the Speed Force and with the defeat of Savitar.

Seeing these long-dead characters back in action is sure to have an emotional impact on Barry, so we're looking forward to another tear-jerker of an episode (something the show does brilliantly). We'll also be interested to see how this plays into Barry's relationship with Iris. In recent episodes, they have become engaged and then called it off, and Eddie's appearance is sure to be something that Barry and Iris talk about when he returns from the Speed Force. We're also thrilled to see Captain Cold back in action. This fan-favorite character has appeared intermittently since his death in Legends of Tomorrow, and is always a pleasure to see on screen.

However, these images don't tell us anything that we didn't already know from the teaser. Barry's journey into the Speed Force to save Wally was a given (he would never leave Wally there) and we already saw the return of these four "ghosts." We'll be most interested to find out whether or not Jay Garrick is actually in the Speed Force or if he is another hallucination, but it looks like we won't learn the truth about that one until next Tuesday.
