The Flash went on hiatus this week, taking a break before returning at the end of April for the final five episodes of the third season. There's a lot to see when Team Flash returns, of course, after the incredible events of 'Abra Kadabra'. Now, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) is on the loose and everything seems to be building toward the eventual death of Iris West (Candice Patton), but Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has a new plan. He's going to head into the future to find out who Savitar is in order to beat him.

What all this means is that the show is going to take a trip into the future when The Flash returns with 'The Once And Future Flash', which means alternate versions of favorite characters - and finally finding out who is under that Savitar suit. The producers have already promised a huge surprise when Savitar's identity is revealed, and now there's a little more news on what to expect before the end of season 3 - including some familiar faces.

The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg spoke with EW about what's coming up on the show, and promises a couple of recurring villains and another major recurring character on the way.

We have a couple of recurring villains, one major recurring character. It’s funny. Every year, around this time of year, I feel like there’s this speculation, no matter what show it is, that we don’t know what we’re doing — maybe we don’t — but there is a plan. There’s always a plan on every one of these shows. We set stuff up throughout the years that’s going to be paid off. Whether you enjoy it or not is something different. But we’re really excited about where we’re at, how these revelations are going to come [out] and how everything gets wrapped up by the end of the year.

This doesn't tell us who these recurring villains are, but given that some Flash bad guys have been playing a major part in Legends Of Tomorrow this season, this could mean that there is going to be some crossover between the shows. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) has returned to the Arrowverse, and could pop up in Flash's future universe, and both Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher) and Black Flash have also appeared in the show's second season. While it's likely that their particular storyline will be resolved in the Legends season finale on Tuesday, it's possible that these two will make a brief reappearance in The Flash as well.

Of course, there are any number of Flash villains who could be on the slate for the final episodes of season 3, and Kreisberg's comments give nothing away about who he could be referring to. This could also mean that Savitar himself is a recurring villain, and is a future version of someone that Flash has battled in the past. This would certainly explain Savitar's total hatred for The Flash, and his desire to destroy his life. We'll just have to wait and see...
