With less than a week left until The CW premieres the pilot of The Flash at San Diego Comic-Con, even those who are unable to attend should have a pretty good handle on the first episode as well as much of the first season. Between the extended first trailer, the many featurettes, and the numerous casting announcements - including Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) as Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold and Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) as Firestorm - The Flash creators are painting a clear picture of their upcoming series for fans through the marketing.

Now, so close to the SDCC premiere, some new images from The Flash pilot have surfaced online along with bigger versions of previously released stills. Additionally, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg gave a concrete answer as to when Arrow’s Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) would appear on The Flash.

CBM has reported that episode 4, titled “Going Rogue,” will feature Smoak as well as introduce Miller’s Leonard Snart/Captain Cold. Kreisberg said Smoak will act as a type of mentor to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his own team: Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh).

Read Kreisberg’s full quote:

It’s an episode where Barry’s beginning to question his teammates, and Felicity coming along is not just to reconnect with him; it actually serves a grander purpose, which is that Felicity is somebody who knows how difficult it is to have teammates who are fighting crime. So, she’s there to offer some sage advice, both to Barry and to to Caitlin, Cisco, and Wells. So we’re really excited.

Episode 4 will be the first crossover between The Flash and Arrow (not including Arrow's pep talk with Flash in the pilot), but another will follow in episode 8, which will be a special 2-hour event. Although these crossover episodes between The CW’s two DC-based superhero series indicate that the network - as well as Kreisberg and fellow executive producer Greg Berlanti - aren’t shy about using established characters to help kick-start The Flash, the casting of so many new characters should give hope to fans that want to see Allen fighting super-powered villains on his own.

Whether viewers are hoping for a cohesively shared universe between Arrow and The Flash or that the two series will remain as separate as possible, it appears Berlanti and Kresiberg are hoping to strike the right balance between crossovers and standalone story arcs. Besides, there’s only so much crossover opportunity when the shows take place in their own distinct cities.

In addition to the new information about Smoak’s appearance in The Flash, CBM also released three new images from the pilot episode as well as two high definition stills. Check them out below:

These images feature the core cast of The Flash: Gustin, Panabaker, Valdes, Cavanagh, Candice Patton (who plays Iris West), and Jesse L. Martin (Detective Joe West). Unfortunately, any of these stills depict scenes from the trailer and offer little new insight into the pilot. However, plenty of new information about the first episode will surface after it’s screened to the public during SDCC.
