Despite having wrapped filming in late 2021, the full The Flash movie trailer reportedly won't release until 2023. The upcoming installment in the DC Universe will borrow inspiration from the Flashpoint comic storyline in which Barry Allen travels back in time in the hopes of preventing his mom's murder, only for it to have dire consequences on both his and other timelines, breaking the door open to the multiverse. Ezra Miller returns to lead the cast of The Flash in the titular role alongside fellow DCU vets Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Ben Affleck, and Temuera Morrison, with the film also introducing Michael Keaton, Ron Livingston, Sasha Calle and Maribel Verdú to the superhero franchise. With less than a year remaining until it hits theaters, a new report indicates that The Flash movie trailer won't be released until 2023. The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez took to Twitter to confirm the report to be "accurate" and teasing when it could be released. What Movie The Flash Trailer Could Screen With

Ezra Miller as The Flash looking stunned in The Flash

The decision to not release The Flash movie trailer until the year of its release is sure to come as a surprise to many, given the only trailer shown for the film to the public is from 2021's DC FanDome, where Miller admitted they and their team didn't have enough footage to cut together a proper trailer. Interestingly, more Flash movie footage was screened earlier this year at CinemaCon, which teased more of Keaton's Batman return, recreating one of his more iconic lines from the original Tim Burton Batman movie, while also offering the first look at Shannon's return as Zod and a better look at Calle's Supergirl after being seen in the background of the sole teaser. However, The Flash isn't the only film to not have its CinemaCon footage release in the seven months since, with fellow WB title Wonka and Lionsgate's The Expendables 4 and Borderlands all showing material the public has yet to see.

With The Flash movie trailer report indicating that it is being saved to screen ahead of a film in 2023, the question then becomes which project WB is saving the footage for in 2023. The likely bet seems to be that of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, given the two's DCU connections and the Zachary Levi-led film hitting theaters just over three months prior to Miller's. Some have also taken to speculating The Flash movie trailer could be shown ahead of Magic Mike's Last Dance, given the high-profile name of Channing Tatum's franchise, Creed III, thanks to having its own superhero vets with Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Majors and Florian Munteanu, or Evil Dead Rise, given director Andy Muschietti's history in the horror genre.

Regardless of which it ultimately screens ahead of, it will be interesting to see if The Flash movie trailer's reported 2023 release will have any major effects on its box office prospects. Given the film's frequent release date delays, uncertainty of the DCU's future plans for Keaton's Batman, and Miller's multiple legal controversies, some are already uncertain whether the film will ultimately perform for the studio, though with WB reportedly already getting Aquaman scribe David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to pen The Flash 2, it seems likely they aren't feeling concerned about its financial prospects. However, with its release month also seeing the arrivals of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Indiana Jones 5, Miller's The Flash will have a lot of competition to outrun.
