5 Actors Who Could Play The Flash in ‘Justice League’

by Andrew Dyce
(6 of 5)

The Flash; the Scarlet Speedster; the Fastest Man Alive. DC has once again given the title to Barry Allen for the time being, but every gathering of DC's greatest heroes has required a man or woman blessed with superspeed.

With the upcoming Justice League movie, it's practically a guarantee that The Flash will be making his big-screen debut. As always, the question of casting now arises.

We've put realistic options above outlandish 'dream-casting' in determining our list, based on the apparent tone and direction that Warner Bros. is taking with their superhero films.

Here are our picks for 5 Actors Who Could Play The Flash in Justice League.

Chris Pine? Wow, I never even thought about that. He would be perfect! :)

I was told a good two years ago that WB was looking at Pine but couldn’t verify. I included it one of my articles back then (pre-Green Lantern).

Some might call it blasphemy, but I think the same actor working for both Barry and Hal actually makes a lot of sense.

*That is NOT an endorsement of Ryan Reynolds for Flash.

I’ve always wanted Ryan Reynolds as Barry Allen and Chris Pine as Hal Jordan.

*Superman / Clark Kent – Henry Cavill
    *Batman / Bruce Wayne –
    *Wonder Woman – Olivia Wilde
*Green Lantern / Hal Jordan – Ryan Reynolds
    *Flash – Bradley Cooper
    *Aquaman – Ryan Gosling

I can kinda see all you wrote, but Olivia Wilde. She is way too small @ 5’7″. After all WW is an Amazon.

      • pawn65    4 months ago

Not gonna find alot of women that are taller than that. Thats considered a tall woman!

        Reply
        • Roguedork19    4 months ago

Not only is she small but she is so frail looking. Wonder Woman is an Amazon. They are beastly women. Tall, strong, and beastly! None of which Olivia Wilde is close to resembling.

Great choices. Bradly Cooper is always great, Reynolds just needs a good story, Olivia Wild is sexy as, Gosling also always great.

It would be hard to stay away from a film with such a great lineup.

Then again I thought that about Gangster Squad.

I like Chris Pine as Flash, it wouldn’t be far off from his Capt. Kirk and I think Armie Hammer could be a good Batman. Wonder Woman is a tough role to cast, but Olivia Wilde would be fine… Bring back Reynolds as GL or recast for John Stewart in which case I would go with maybe Anthony Mackie…

    Reply
    • Wesley    4 months ago

Dude he would make an amazing John Stewart!

      Reply

John Stewart maybe Tyrese Gibson and WW I think Adrianne Palicki did a good job on that NBC WW pilot.

Now that you mention it, I did know that… but I still think its a good casting choice… after all Ryan Reynolds played Wade Wilson and we all know about Cap himself…

Weird i never knew Chris pine was in the running for green lantern, but I always thought he could’ve made a 1000 Times better lead in that role!

    Reply
    • Andrew Dyce    4 months ago

Yeah, same here. He’s got Hal Jordan written all over him. Don’t think it would have worked with some of the script’s tone, but….that’s not his fault.

      Reply
  7. Martini    4 months ago

I think Armie Hammer could be a great Flash.

Chris Pine would be good too, but I think it’s a little better to have someone less attached to already big movie franchises (if that makes sense)

Bradley Cooper for The Flash! And make Batman a lil older than all the other JL members! You know how ubserdly alsome Michael Keaton playing Batman would be!

Aw man, I was hoping to see Michael Rosenbaum on your list.

I mean, he has been doing the voice of Flash (Wally West version) since 2001. His personality is more Flash-like than any of the actors listed above, and I just can’t really see anybody else doing it.

    Reply
    • Andrew Dyce    4 months ago

I dug his voice performance as Wally the wisecracker, but can’t see him sharing anything tied to Barry Allen’s version.

Personally, my vote would be to consider him for Guy Gardner in ‘The Green Lantern Corps’

      Reply
      • Roguedork19    4 months ago

Yeah, he is definitely not Barry. He is Wally.

Lol he could do funny Guy, but it would only seem that he was faking the GG personality. For somebody like Guy, you need somebody who can pull off being somebody that dense lol

Didnt NPH also voice the flash?

        Reply
        • Roguedork19    4 months ago

He only voiced Flash in Justice League: The New Frontier. Everything else has basically been Rosenbaum. Although, George Eads has been voicing Barry Allen in Young Justice.

I would be fine with all your picks. I think I’d like Pine the most. But my favourite choice would be Gosling as the Flash. I’m not shure if he is affordable. But I think he would be awesome. He can be serious and funny. He Show both. And he has the body and look to be great in a tight red suit.

Lars and the real girl (2007). But yeah. He would just be my personal choice. We will see how it turns out in the end. He’s definitely not the funniest person, or at least doesn’t seems to be. But i’m sure he would pull that off.

IMHO Liam could pull it off. A little tall at 6’2 but not a deal breaker. Key points being his general appearance(guy screams Barry Allen) and his age(29 or 30 I believe) the perfect age for a multi-picture superhero franchise.

    • Andrew Dyce    4 months ago

I’m coming around on him more and more. But I’d also be with cody’s next comment that he could pull off an Aquaman, since the new incarnation of him has plenty in common with a Roman warrior.

I see him more as Kyle Rayner. But he could probably pull of Barry too.

Don’t dip your toe into the water, by picking actors and actresses one by one, dive in and cast the whole Justice League!

    (Musts)
    Superman/Clark Kent – Henry Cavil
Batman/Bruce Wayne – Christian Bale or JGL
Wonder Woman/Diana Prince – Erica Durance or Megan Fox
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan – Ryan Reynolds
Flash/Barry Allen – Chris Pine or Zac Efron
    (Optional)
Black Canary/Dinah Lance – Yvonne Strahovski
    Aquaman/Arthur Curry – Justin Hartley

And I would like Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow, but that isn’t likely because they don’t want his character leaving the non-super-powered neighborhood. Everybody says they can’t have Christian Bale’s Batman in the Justice League because “he doesn’t play well with others” but in TDKR he tracks down Catwoman for help, and fights alongside the police officers in the street. In the Dark Knight he calls on Lucius Fox to use the devise with all the blue screens for help. And we need Yvonne’s Black Canary and Erica’s Wonder Woman because comics have been getting referred to as sexist and DC will bet Marvel’s Avengers’ amount of girls on their original roster. And Zac Efron or Chris Pine will also get teenage girls to go see it. BUT, YOU DON’T WANT TO MAKE THE TEAM TOO BIG!!!!! because then you won’t be able to develop characters as deep as Marvel did and the story may become hard to follow!

      Megan Fox? /slaps forehead.

You want a piece of eye candy who can’t beat a block of wood in an acting contest to play our Amazonian Princess?

Bale is also not an option for Batman and you listed Black Canary before martian Manhunter?

      -3 for you.

Hhmmmm….still thinking. Barry Allen as Flash, for sure, but still scratching my head over the perfect actor for the portrayal. I do know we need a Flash movie, and another Green Lantern movie (Reynolds again as Hal Jordan…just fix the problems like bad script, dump the bedroom scenes and cornball humor). Sinestro plot-line is too good to lose out on. Or how about Sinestro and Professor Zoom (Reverse Flash) against Hal and Barry in a team-up movie? Can’t get a more awesome and evenly-matched set of contenders for a super-sized cage match than that!

I saw the names Megan Fox and Zac Efron in your cast list and therefore i cant take anything you say seriously.

      Reply
    • Andrew Dyce    4 months ago

@Goldilocks: I’m with you 100%. The Screen Rant Underground cast and I mentioned doing a team-up film with Barry and Hal since they’re a fantastic duo, but I do think they could work in their own environments.

If the next GL film (with Reynolds, like you said) goes the Sinestro route, that’s more than enough reason to bring in John Stewart or Guy Gardner to swell the Sector 2814 ranks, against an awesome villain and his army, no less.

The Flash could build off plenty, especially if the writers build out Heat Wave or another Rogue into a formidable enough foe to maybe call on GL or WW. Save Reverse Flash for the sequel, and things getting REALLY serious.

I could see Bradley Cooper or Chris Pine as the Flash. Joel Edgerton, not so much. I could, however, see him as a pretty good Batman. I hope DC can dig themselves out of the whole they got themselves into and make a Justice League movie on par with Avengers

Some of those are not bad but I don’t know if I’m 100% sold on any of them and wondering if there isn’t someone better. Unfortunately I don’t have any suggestions on who the perfect person would be.

And Patrick Wilson is the perfect Hank Pym, not Flash.

AND……would people PLEASE stop listing Bale as playing Batman?!!! He is done with the role, gone, moved on and will not be returning. Only by an act of Nolan would Bale even think about considering it and Nolan is not going to be directing JL. So get over it and move on already.

    Reply
    • Andrew Dyce    4 months ago

With you on the Bale, man. I wonder how many people saying that nobody but Bale could ever play Batman as well were the same ones criticizing his casting in the first place…

I hate how people keep bringing up Olivia Wylde, Adrian Palicki, or blah!!! Megan Fox to play Wonder Woman. Gina Corano is a former MMA fighter and has both the beauty and Braun to carry the role. Just watch the film Haywire of her beating down Channing Tatum in the opening scene and you will realize she is the only actress who should be cast to play Diana.

Best in the world..If JL is on par with avengers then im going to be very dissapointed, I found avengers to be a bore, massivly overated, JL could smash that easily if done right, cos in terms of superheros, DC has the hardest hitters..
