The first full teaser trailer for [REC] 2 has appeared online. A sequel to the Spanish-language horror film from a couple of years ago, [REC] 2 appears to pick up right where the first one left off. Original writers/directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza return for the sequel, with Manu Diez being added to the writing roster to complete the trio.
Technically this isn’t the first teaser we’ve seen for [REC] 2, but since that other one was nothing more than the logo with some audio for about 10 seconds, we can count this minute-long teaser as the first official look at the film. The trailer is pretty intense so needless to say The following video contains strong, bloody horror and violence – NSFW:

I don’t think words can describe how good I think [REC] 2 looks. The teaser suggests that the movie has thankfully carried on the frantic, insane nature of the first film – which will finally get a U.S. release on DVD in July (the UK has had the movie on DVD for months now). Some of the more avid movie fans out there might know that there was a Hollywood remake of the first [REC] released last year, called Quarantine. I managed to catch a screening of Quarantine and, as usual, the Hollywood version felt like it was sorely lacking.
Just in case any of you are not familiar with [REC], the story centers on a mysterious virus which breaks out within the confines of a Spanish building complex (I won’t reveal anymore so as not to spoil anything). It is truly one of the most frightening cinematic experiences I’ve had since The Descent (one of my favorite horror movies of all time) and I recommend it to any horror fans out there who haven’t seen it (don’t bother with the American remake).

I really can’t wait for [REC] 2, I think the teaser trailer looks fantastic. But what about you? Have you seen the original [REC] or the American remake Quarantine?
No word yet about a U.S. or UK release date for [REC] 2. As stated, the original [REC] is scheduled to be released on DVD in the U.S. on July 14, 2009.

I can’t hardly wait to be terrified again. I saw the first one on my home, alone, at two a.m. After it was over, it took me a good 10 minutes to gain the courage to go outside my room, to pee.

I have both REC and Quarentine and was wandering which one I should watch first. Now I know.
Also good to know that I’m not the only one that loved The Descent (can’t wait until Descent 2).
I really liked Descent – great flick
Quarinitine started pretty good but then some scences made it look like a haunted house rather than a film.
Looking forward to this one, heard about it this week.
And I saw the first movie and it blew me away, did not think there could be a horror movie that actually scared me.
Have seen Quarantine as well, it is a good horror movie as well but lacks what REC had.
And the Descent was also a good movie! Looking forward to the sequel to see on how it will be.
I saw Rec late one night too. Very intense movie.
Also it is one of the few movies to do it from the point of view of someone with a camera and do it well, for me anyway. It made sense why they kept filming, and they even stopped at times (as people would) without ruining the flow of the story.
Trailer looks great. Seems the fireman who nearly made it to the end of the first movie is still there.
Just watched [*REC]. Great horror movie. The last ten minutes are intense.
Sorry,but the trailer does nothing for me.It looks like a glorified FPS.
I don’t know what’s supposed to be so “amazing” looking.It’s not like we haven’t seen anything like this before.
I’m eagerly awaiting the US DVD release of [REC] so I can finally watch it.

Didn’t like the last minutes of REC.
The rest of the movie worked great but in the end they started to mix the simple plot with theories and the final part looked like a totally different movie.
My Overall feel for the movie with was great with a bad aftertaste.
Maybe it had worked best if they kept it simple and misterious and didn’t try to explain (or confuse) us what was happening.
I loved the Descent. I find it one of best horrors movies around.
Teaser for REC 2 looks promising. We’ll see if it manages to be more than a cash-in from the success of the first one.
