Washington apparently shed sixty pounds to play Eli (including the thirty he gained for The Taking of Pelham 123).

Nice! The Hughes Brothers should get MORE work! I would like to see their take on the Mad Max-style genre. That should be its own category title, Mad Max Genre instead of Post-Apocalyptic.
Which is fine, just do it properly. January release might not be so bad for this film. If it looks amazing and with Washington you are always gonna get a good crowd.
You had me at Oldman, throw one of my favorite musicians in there, too, and I’m completely sold. I’m very much looking forward to hearing more about this flick!
The idea of the events of the film happening because his iPod dies makes me laugh. Still looks cool, though.
Eli has an ipod? I have less respect for him already. Does he pick his firearms for their looks instead of their function as well? lol
As a life-long Apple/Mac user, I have to say the stigma is way off. Mac products work fine so long as your not a bumbling idiot with hand-eye coordination of a stage coach driver. Quality materials are not meant to be dropped.
Bet you are a Zune lover, aren’t you bud…
Never heard of it before, but i must say it seems intriguing.
I like anything that has better sound quality, more storage space, expandability, a battery you can change, built in FM tuner, all while costing less, which basically names every major brand mp3 player except the ipod…
Ok, maybe I shouldn’t make a statement like that without explaining. I’m half joking with you but half serious.
In terms of sound quality, a real audiophile will procrlaim “NO mp3 players out of the box have acceptable sound quality.” The verdict is the only way a true audiophile will accept any mp3 player is with a separate headphone amplifier.
But short of lugging around a separate powered headphone amplifier, the best sound quality out of the box is and has been the Creative Zen line. The latest I think is the Zen Vision? I have like the older one, but even then they won all of the sound quality awards. It is pretty well known with the audiophiles and people who rate these things that the built in headphone amplifier on the iPod sucks. I can tell the difference but just barely, audiophiles it’s night and day, but you know what, I like to get more for my money, so even though I’m not a hardcore audiophile, I prefer the Creative Zen line over the ipod. And shopping them side by side, a comparably priced ipod will have a lower storage capacity, Apple seems allergic to allowing people to expand memory with memory cards like having a sd card slot, the Zen has a built in FM tuner, no big whoop, but it’s not like you’re paying more for it, it’s rated at longer battery life, if your battery starts to not hold its charge, you can replace it, all this, and even at “comparably priced” the Zen is still slightly cheaper even with more capacities and all of these other advantages. Of course I’m just talking similar models, there are so many different options it’s not even funny.
One thing Apple does well in all they do, is presentation. The user interface in the ipods are the easiest around, and on their OS is the most attractive. But besides that I find it hard to find something anything Apple makes to have any features that I want or need for a price point I’m interested in. But that’s just me, some people like the fact that everywhere you look there are accessories for the ipod and the superior user interface. For me, that isn’t enough to make me put up the extra cash for one. I got my Creative Zen for $40, but this is way back when, so it’s an older model.
I have my own brand loyalties too, like when I build computers, I ALWAYS buy Asus motherboards, even if they cost more, lol. My friend makes fun of me for that, lol.
Thanks for the heads up on thins one Kofi. The film has a first class cast and, yes, the underrated Hughes directors.
Thanks for the reminder of From Hell as well. I picked up a copy and enjoyed it even more than when it was released.
From Hell was hurt by a bad title. Calling it simply Jack The Ripper would have all the difference.
I’m excited to see this movie because Ray Stephenson is in it-I wish he’d get more press in the U.S. He’s amazing.
Woot, I second that, Ray Stevenson’s the man.
