Ain’t It Cool News has scored the first super-hi-res look at the first (non-billboard) poster for the upcoming film adaption of Frank Miller’s The Spirit, by Frank Miller himself. If you don’t know, Miller is the same guy who brought us the highly stylized Sin City graphic novel and movie. Oh, and he also wrote the graphic novel that the movie 300 was based on.
So if nothing else, this film certainly won’t be boring or ordinary.

The Spirit is a former rookie police officer who returns mysteriously from the dead to fight crime in the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy is the Octopus, played by Samuel L. Jackson, and he has a different mission: to wipe out Spirit’s beloved city as part of a plan to pursue his own version of immortality.
I like the look of the poster – makes the movie look like it’ll be along the same lines as Sin City or maybe a more stylized Batman Begins. The word is that there will be a teaser trailer coming out tomorrow as well.

Miller says he that the backbone for the films look will come from Eisners original drawings.
It will be interesting to see if he can pull that off
Hope it isn’t like the syle of Sin City.
I can’t wait to see this tho. The current comix are pretty good, IMO.
Interesting tho, the Spirit and the Flash (Barry Allen) are from the same city.
This will be a hard sell,with Frank Miller-might work work-might not.

i recently watched the spirit and was kind of surprised that he’s from Central City. i thought back on the other comicbook heroes and where they lived, i realized that i’ve heard of a superhero living in Central City as well. The Flash, how is it possiblethat they live in the same city? do they know each other? just a thought…
