Last week I said that the next big comic book adaptation to watch was The Spirit. I stand by that statement with the release of two official pictures from Frank Miller’s film.
The Spirit stars Samuel L. Jackson as The Octopus and Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss, Eva Mendes and Gabriel “Who did I sleep with to get this role?” Macht as The Spirit
Okay, Okay – I know that they look like Sin City, but that isn’t a bad thing. Didn’t 300 kind of look like Sin City? That turned out okay.
It’s also directed by one of the directors of Sin City, so you can allow him some leeway.

There’s not a whole lot to see, but these pictures do give you a sense of the films vibe.
To some Frank Miller is a genius, to others he is one of the men responsible for Robocop 2, I think he’s closer to genius… so I’m quite excited about this one.

Well at least in Franks version the Spirit
wont be a reincarnated Super powered Cop.
I am no fan of robocop 2 or Dark Knight 2 for that matter .
but I am more then willing to give Frank a chance.
By the way, Is there anyone here who has read All Star Batman and LIKED it?
I havent read it but i have heard nothing but bad things .
Um, I don’t think that “300″ looked even remotely close to “Sin City” visually. Unless you’re referring to the fact that they both had very unique looks to them.
I know nothing about “The Spirit” comic or “Batman All Stars” BTW. Gary, what do you mean by “Dark Knight 2?”

I think that they had a similar visual tone.
They were both very unique- but they did have that green screen vibe.

I always thought The Spirit was a tremendously dull character.
However , I am one of those people who think that Frank Miller IS a genius. If anyone can make The Spirit cool and interesting it is Miller.

I was referring to The Dark Knight Strikes Back, Millers sequel to The Dark Knight Returns.
any implied connection to the upcoming movie was accidental.

I think Miller will do a great job on this, He’s got everything to prove and he sounds totally passionate about the Spirit… and to be honest, if this comes out looking anything like Sin City, I’ll be pleased!
As soon as I seen Sin City I thought it was the blueprint for a Spirit Movie.

I can only hope Frank Miller lives up to the hype.
This will be a hard sell,with Frank Miller-might work work-might not.Despite the success of Sin City and 300,I am not going to proclaim the Spirit movie a success until,it’s made.I might pull it off or he might ruin it,despite the best of intentions.We shall see when it’s out there.

Sorry,but you tremendously stupid.Will Eisner was a genius-the man who IS THE KING OF COMICS.To be so rightiously claimed as a genius,to have an award named after him and have never once done superhero material and be so valued by the industry.I guerss all Eisner was tremendously dull too because there biff,bang ,bang Super violence in it and all superhero cliches.Right Moron ?
The Spirit,may not be up there with the Bat Man or Daredevil,but considering when Mister Eisner did it,when all the other Gods of Comicdom,including Jack King Kirby were working a pay check,Will Eisner was attempting anything close art,not hackneed superhero junk.
