World’s Greatest Dad earned some positive buzz at Sundance this year and will get a theatrical release on August 21, 2009. It has an uphill climb to success ahead of it – but I’ve never been one to count out a dark horse comedy in the late Summer season (see: Superbad).

UPDATE: You can also watch World’s Greatest Dad before it hits theaters: the film will premiere on Video On Demand, XBOX Live and Amazon on July 24, 2009.

  1. I thought it looked TERRIBLE.
    Not my cup of tea.
I hope others enjoy it though.

  2. I hope this is good, but I have my doubts. Williams is a funny man, but outside cartoons, his last good comedy was Death to Smootchy 7 years ago.

  3. I actually saw this movie at CineVegas and thought it did a great job bringing a very serious topic to public attention while using some sick & twisted humor.

  4. Looks great. I love dark Comedies one of the best genres in my opinion so I’m pretty excited. Williams showed he can do Dark Comedy Well in Death To Smoochy still a little worried though he tends to be a little hit or miss with his films. I don’t think any one does Dark Comedy as well as Cusack, but this looks good so I hope for the best.

  5. I hope the rest of the movie is just as good. Don’t want my money wasted on another bad Robin Williams film.
