Here’s the first look at Will Smith looking super-heroey in Hancock.
Having seen the trailer, this image came as a bit of a shock to me. I really liked the slacker/bum look that Smith had in the trailer as a counterpoint to his superhero powers. He had a whole anti-heroic thing going, where he had to be convinced to go after the bad guys when he’d rather just be sleeping.
In retrospect I suppose I should have expected this. I don’t know why I was thinking that he’d maintain that attitude throughout the film… it seems like it’s going to be pretty typical after all, taking him from no account slacker to full-on superhero.

While that will make the film story more typical, that doesn’t mean it won’t work. I’m sure that what will happen is that initially he’ll embrace the whole hero thing and start to buy into it, but something will happen that will show him the seriousness and/or consequences of what he does and he will “grow” as a person.
Amazing how much one can divine from just one picture, ain’t it?

This costume looks strangely like those X-Men uniforms from the movies..
Maybe this shot is of Will Smith as a big-time superhero, before he messed up something (or something messed him up) and he became a slacker after that?

It’s Will Smith, so I can bet it will be entertaining at the least. I can’t say it’s the movie I am looking forward to the most, but I will definitely be seeing it when it comes out. I still think Will’s best role was in Independence Day and can’t say that any of his movie’s that I have seen have sucked. BTW, Jae, I also see the X-Men costume in that, but I guess everyone is getting into the black leather look: X-Men, Catwoman, Spidey….
Either that, or this is how he starts, and something happens to make him care less?
It’s hard to tell at what point in the character’s arc this picture represents. Could be beginning, middle or end.
You guys are some astute readers (which is no doubt why you’re drawn to this site).

Steve, while MIB was good, I would choose “Pursuit of Happyness” as his best acting role. The man is just too versatile.

That’s not will smith at all, it is a picture of Kanye West in line at the KFC.
Since we are talking about Will Smith’s work I would like to mention that the robats in IRobat are really similar to the Infected in I am legend. I bet if they took out all the mecanical stuff from the robats it will look exactly the same. I also think thise movie is going to be ill.
I would LOVE to see a batsuit made out of the same black and grey material used here!
I hope the filmakers are taking notes!

It doesn’t have to be “Adam West VS Tim Burton” when it comes to supersuits. There are plenty of other material options out there,believe me……
Andy,when you ere saying how everything’s getting back to black rubber you said “Spidey…”.
The Spider-Man suit wasn’t made out of black leather…it was more like the traditional spadexy wear,only more stylized (the little ovals that ran thru out the suit and the raised webbing….?).
KEL, I do know that the Spidey suit was not leather, but I pointed out that all the supes costumes lately have gone to black. Not a whole lot of bright colors like the Superman movie in the 80’s. I was just pointing out that it seems to be a trend in this decade to make superhero outfits black.

Although,I personally think that the Spider-Man movie costume is possibly the best on screen adaptation of a comix suit ever.
i think the image is maybe showing him before he just slacks off on being a superhero maybe something happened that made him into a suer powered hoebo.
This movie does look good, but the costume looks pretty gay in my opinion. He’s not a superhero he’s a superqueero.
