A behind-the-scenes image from James Cameron’s upcoming sci-fi film Avatar has been released. And no it’s not of some key scene or revelation of any of the CG elements promised by Cameron. But simply a picture of him and cast member Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation), pointing at something presumably fascinating off-picture.

I think it’s safe to say that Avatar is high on a lot of movie fans’ most anticipated list. Who could resist the return of the man who brought us the spectacle that was Titanic, the biggest money making movie of all time? Whatever you think of that movie, what can’t be denied is the impact it had; the task Cameron had of making that film was monumental at the time.
But who wants to follow that kind of success? Fox has granted Cameron a whopping $195 million budget to make this movie so I think it’s safe to say he’s intent on giving it a fair shot (to say the least). We’ll have to wait and see if the movie itself turns out to be even half as good as the hype for it has been so far; for now we have this amazing picture (note sarcasm) to ponder.

Stupid James Cameron and his stupid not releasing pictures of the film policy, and his stupid team for not leaking any…
I expect Avatar to feel a lot like watching the new Indy movie.

oh look at Cameron’s tee shirt! he’s sporting battle angel alita! i loved those books, i would rather watch that as a live action movie than avatar. but that’s just me, and i wasn’t too impressed with the show, though honestly i only watched about 2 random episodes.

I have no idea what that means… That you’ll start out excited about the movie and then you’ll drop into an abyss of despair over its cinematic ruins?
That’s how I felt during Indy 4, anyway.

@ almanza, For Air Bender which you are referring too – Too enjoy it you absolutely must watch from the beginning. It’s a perfectly planned and organized ‘book’ with three volumes (seasons) and that’s why they label them as such. If you get a chance, I highly recommend it

Yah, thanks, now I know the plot of the entire film because of that really revealing picture!!!! Thanks Ross, you $%#@^!!! lol
Oh, but personally I feel that this picture is a step in the right direction. Because so far, we have had NOTHING in terms of pictures, concept art, anything. At least this means that maybe sometime in the near future we might actually see something from the movie…
Prob a few red herrings, that scene up there looks as about as high tech as plan 9 from outerspace..This one is wrapped tight real tight..but they have to let a few aromas out of the kitchen to keep our appetite up..
They invented a whole new language out of this at UCLA, and have ubisoft developing a game.
They certainly haven’t let the devil out the details other than it will be groundbreaking.
I remember some old vaporware that was hyped like that..but this is Camerons childhood dream since the nineties..that much time to put thought into this..

Ubisoft is making the game? Oh, so I guess we can already be sure that the game will suck. Hopefully the movie won’t. Although UCLA is full of crazy tree-huggers with no concept of reality… Uh oh…
