anyways, me = win! lol

I thought it was obvious that it had to have been Bond. By your guys’ logic, movies should go for the lesser film to bring in other audiences. Its like seeing ads for Saw 5 with Burn After Reading – which to me, makes no sense.

The point of ads and commercials are to hit the biggest audience and the most appropriate audience. Hence, Superbowl time slots being the most expensive and seeing trailers for kids movies with other kids movies and horror ads with horror films.

What’s the biggest and most applicable movie left his year? Bond.

Imagine, Trek not advertising along with the biggest movie left this year?

So we have another reason on the list of many to see Bond opening night!

How could it not be with Quantum of Solace? The idea of commercials and ads are to hit the biggest audience of that genre (hence kids ads with kids movies, horror ads with horror flicks).

This is why superbowl ad slots are the most expensive because of the biggest audience. Bond Audience is the biggest left this year and more importantly, the most applicable, so how could Trek not go with that?

I stand by my logic .
they wont expand the Trek movie fan base by attacting it to Bond.
You dont gain anything by not taking risks.

Well, what Paramount and any other movie studio WON’T ignore is of the demographics of an audience. Children’s movies often draw large numbers, does that mean every movie studio should plug their big blockbuster film before them? I’m pretty sure the Twilight audience will not exactly be a target audience for a Star Trek movie… I’m not talking numbers, I’ve been told many times that it will open big, it’s the demographics of the people who will be watching it that would make me doubt out of all the movies for the trailer to first appear, it would be before that film. And I guess the news that it will be before 007 just confirms that.

Quantum is the last movie I’m really looking forward to this year.

Nothing after that of interest for me, really. Punisher will be more of a curiosity thing. And is the Keanu suckfest this December or next? I forget…

Yeah I fully expect “007, Quantum” to be the last great blockbuster of 2008.
I’m sure it will be in the upper 250 mil range easy.
The Star Trek trailer is gonna bring out every trek freak, and really boost its opening weekend…

Twilight will have to pull its own weight… (Drink lots of blood).

Most Goth kids that I’ve delt with think Star Trek is crap, so putting it with Twilight’s not really gonna pay off if you ask 790.

I predicted Paramount would put the new trek trailer with Twilight because i am taking the studio at its word .
they say they want to build a new audience for Trek.
The best way to do that is to try to attract people who HAVE NOT SEEN IT .

I’m not going to try to pinpoint box office numbers for Twilight, even experts at that sort of thing don’t know how it’s going to do. I do have a feeling it won’t have a problem hitting at list the high 30s on opening weekend.

As far as Bond, it’ll probably do low 40s I think. Generally sequels to well received previous films tend to make similar box office to the first film on opening weekend.

I agree with Gary’s logic – I’m thinking Paramount wants to bring a new, young generation into the fold with this Trek movie.

my point was that it would be a better idea to put it with Twilight for the sake of a new audience for Trek fans.
as to box office, I dont know.
but be at as big as Bond.
Twilights reaction at Comic Con proves that its a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off .
what I was asking was how much you expect it to make in opening weekend ?
By the way if Paramount chooses to reeasing with one of its november films
my guess would be Madagascar 2 .
Family audience and all that.
