More like “Nothing good will come of this movie.”

Honestly, I remember seeing a sneak scene of it months back and it looks absolutely atrocious. I love Cedric Diggory but the guy honestly should not be playing this role.

Oh well, I’ll keep my mouth shut and hope I’m wrong.

I hate to agree…I love the books and want to love the movie just as much as any Twihard fan out there (if that’s what their calling themselves these days). I am just waiting…and waiting for the marketing team responsible for the success of this movie to kick it up a few hundred notches. Unfortunately I don’t see any risks being taken to promote this movie as much as any fan believes it deserves. Why is that? I am a marketing professional and completely agree that “word-of-mouth” is by far the best way to achieve an audience - but when the “mouths” spreading the word are 12-16 year old screaming girls, you’ve got to wonder how many people have already been turned off to the wonderful world created by Stephenie Meyer. At least we still have her books.

Well said KK,

That’s how I see it too. For one who’s not familiar with the novels, I have no reason to see this film.

The trailer looked really weak as well for me so I hope they’re able to show off some more appealing stuff. These posters are empty and boring for those who don’t know the characters.

This poster is horrible. The lead actors for this film are really good-looking, so I wonder what kind of bad graphic artist did it take to ruin natural good looks to this extent? The first poster was at least passable, but this is a disaster! If I didn’t know anything about the movie or the books and had to decide which movie to see based on this poster, I’d certainly take my 10 bucks somewhere else.

Yeah I hate this poster too…he’s so…pasty. From an artistic point of view, it’s just wrong. Body positioning, facial expression, lighting; just bad.

I think people will be interested in it. I’m a fan and I’m going to see it. Its just like when Harry Potter came out, people who didnt read the books still came and saw the movie. Robert Pattinson is suppose to be pale looking…he’s a vampire. I think it’ll be a hit in the box office since people that havent seen it are interested.

@ Lyndsay,

Harry Potter had infinitely better marketing though. That’s the point we’re trying to make - that Twilight is being marketed badly. These posters and the trailer are not appealing to audiences (other than the fans of the books) like Harry Potter did.

I love the books and defenetly will go see the movie but I have to agree that this poster is horrible I thought that it was gonna be something different being said that it is the last poster before the movie comes out,soo I’m disappointed on the work on the
posterbelieve the artist just wanted to get it over with…and did not took his time. But what can we do what is done is done….And I will still see the movie

I just wish there would be more avertisements about the movie, wich is coming next month…….

The movie is about a romance and in this poster I don’t see any expressions of love between the characters no chemistry……Hello that is the main part of the whole movie…. The first poster was better and it was the first ever poster from the movie? not fair

Blah!!!!lol

um not only does she look like a deer in headlights but there are much better shots of rob as Edward. why did they pick one where he looks like he’s got down syndrome or something? he looks retarded. i think they should have done a side profile to accentuate his jawline

In the book because bella is meant to be very ordinary looking anyway. And well hes a vampire ! every moment hes kissing her he wants to kill her so its not all lovey dovey and stuff.
And also hes meant to be VERY pale which explains the pastiness.
Though that poster doesn’t do him justice hes actually very hot this picture makes his eyes look all squinty lol.

I’m absolutely in love with the series!! I think the movie is gonna rock, though Edward’s expression in the newest poster is a little confusing. Can’t wait for the OFFICIAL AND FINAL trailer that comes out in 2 days!!!! And for all you non-believers, I have this to say: READ THE BOOKS!!!

I’m a fan of the books but I hate this poster. Honestly, it does nothing for me. It looks badly photoshopped. The movie is meant to a love story but I don’t any chemistry in this photo at all.
I hope the promoting starts getting better soon because what they’re doing at the moment is not working for people who haven’t read the book.

These posters are awful
im a big twilight series fan and like harry potter the movie is just not that good
Kristen Stewart looks like 12 years old here but i do understand they had to ugly her down slight to make the contrast between her and the vampires.
As for Rob Keyes saying the not so well known artists
its meant to be that way so people don’t have prejudices about the character b4 hand.

I am a fan of the books and cant wait to see the novel, but the way they made edward look in this picture is not so much mysterious as it makes him look sick. I wonder if they are going to make a movie for each book?

If this one does well, I’m sure there will be sequels for the other novels.

But that means more bad posters - Joey Lawrence, an 18 year old artist/photographer did the posters for this movie and mentioned he will be doing all the movies’ posters…

I’ve read the books and like them for the most part. Nothing against the actor playing Edward, but I expected a more handsome man playing the part. The book describes the Cullens to be beautiful beyond belief. This guy isn’t.

And whoever is in charge of marketing this thing should be shot. I will see the film because I read the book, but I haven’t seen anything to far that would interest ‘others’ in seeing it. It seems they are depending on fan word-of-mouth (or the unlimited funds of 14-year-olds a la Titanic).

I am a Twilight Mom and a marketing professional and can’t wait to see the film. The problem I see with these posters is there’s nothing in them to suggest it’s a VAMPIRE movie. Bringing in the horror fans and the male fans would majorly boost the box office takes of this movie, but they are not doing that. I liked the tag line in the old posters, “When you can live forever, what do you live for?” because it gave a good hint to what the film is about. These don’t have that, and they look flat. You can’t at all figure out what this is about from the poster if you don’t know the books. That’s bad! The poster for “Flash of Genius” (out now, opened in 11th place!) was equally bad, just a guy staring up at a tall building with something about taking on corporations in the tag. What?? Thankfully I’d seen a promo on ET and knew it was about the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper. (Being a car person, I loved the movie, but clearly no one else had a freaking clue what it was about.) I don’t want to see Twilight tank b/c of poor advertising. They need to run some TV commercials, too. The entire movie-going audience does nto get into viral online marketing.

Danny said,

I agree that their marketing strategies should’ve been better. I understand the small budget might’ve hindered them from doing anything extravagant, but they could’ve done so much better than this! Everything from the teaser trailers, stills to the posters look second-rated and lackluster to me. And it all seems to targets toward the fans only, which makes me very nervous for the film.

And now on the new poster. The very first thing that came to my mind when i first saw it was WTF?! This new poster looks basically like the first one (which looks so much better) except for the pose and faical expressions. I thought for the 2nd poster they would come up with something much more different but still gives you that twilight feel, like maybe adding some of other characters in the background or at least using a differnt setting or look, just to add a little more dynamic to it. But no, all we got is a trashy looking version of the first poster that should’ve been left on the editing floor. In addition to the unnatural lighting and over photoshopping, the main problem I have with this poster is rob’s edward. He looks off and entirely wrong as far as characterization goes. He appears to be creepy and scary like a stalker or serial killer here, rather than looking mysterious and dazzling as he should be. Overal I was very disappointed with this poster, yet at the same time very “impressed” that the photographer who shot this managed to make rob look ugly and freakish. Let’s pretend this poster never existed, shall we?

Hmm…my opinion is…this is hilarious! I think the complexion is good, because well, he is a vampire. But he’s supposed to be a good looking vampire. Don’t get me wrong, I think Rob make an excellent Edward, but this poster is horrible, he looks like. I can’t even explain, but the face proportion just is not right, and it looks funny…ok so I’m a bit of a joke maker (including bad ones, but bear with me) though no one probably reads these…
Rob in a rough voice, “Don’t touch my pocket! *smirking* I’ll hurt you”
Kristen whispering “He’s not joking.”

-sorry if I affended anyone, really I didn’t mean to. I’m so excited for the movie to come out :) YAY!:)

I guess I’m alone here but for some reason I’m captivated by Edward in this… He is her protector, and the expression totally fits. Not to mention his smoldering eyes.

I can see that it’s too fake and a little off, but I still like it.

the new poster is better because if im looking at it i think they’re looking at me! it makes me happy!

i think kristen stewart posed with no expression unlike robert pattinson, he looks like a true good-looking vampire.
and kirsten also looks like a little sister of robert.

But it’s just a poster, we don’t see how they act, so im looking forward on the movie. i hope they will make me pee on my pants while i’m watching it!

I will love twilight until its last book!

also i think rob looks hell intense!!! which just adds to the awesomeness of the poster

Excuse me, but don’t mind me saying, that if you are truly a twilight fan, you should not be making fun of the movie, especially since you haven’t even seen it! How do you know, it could be better than anything you have ever seen before! I really am suprised that anybody would say that Robert Pattinson is not a good choice for Edward, he was a fabulous choice! Honestly, he could kick Cedric’s butt. As he said so himself. You guys are seriously twilight fans, no doubt in my mind…..

@ Courtney,

for fans of the book, im sure there are others who feel the same way about Edward’s look in the poster.

But I think the point of posters is to advertise to movie-goers a little about what the movie is and draw them in - This doesn’t seem to do that :( Again, for those who haven’t read the novels, this is meaningless and for me, a bit of a deterrent.

The newest trailer however, was much improved over the earlier ones.

i am a HUGE twilight fan!
i think rob pattinson is perfect for the part of edward.
he is extremely goreous. and im obsessed with him.
BUT bella.. i think kristin stewart is too pretty to play bella, she is supposed to be just an ordinary girl, not matter how much they “uglier” her up. she is still pretty.
that is my ONLYYY complaint..

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE MOVIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Well no, if you go to Stephenie’s site, you will see that she describes Bella and put some of her own personal experiences in there. Bella was ordinary in Pheonix, a big place. But in Forks, there weren’t as many ‘beautiful’ people, so she was able to be pretty.

If that makes sense :)

I have no photographic background, but I am a graphic design major and I could probably think of 20 different settings that would be better than this one. An equally low-budget movie, Blood and Chocolate, had an infinitely more interesting movie poster with a much smaller fan base.
http://www.impawards.com/2007/blood_and_chocolate_ver2.html
Not that I am a fan of the movie, but the viewer gets a sense of what the movie revolves around.
I understand the artist of the Twilight poster wanted to keep with the shadowed feeling of the first poster, but definitely more emotion and thought could have been tied in. The quote “Nothing will be the same” paired with this photo makes absolutely no sense and kinda makes me what to vomit.

I am a Twilight saga fan and I do not approve of this haphazard “art”.

Well, Jenn, we’re all true twilight fans and we’re certainly not “making fun of the movie” as you accused us of doing, we’re simply being objective and honest here. Just because we’re fans it doens’t mean we’re obligated to embrace and love whatever they(summit) have to offer by default, even if what they have to offer is really bad (like this poster). Also, you seemed to have misinterpreted the majority opinion here. We’re not complaining about rob’s casting as edward (i don’t think anybody is), in fact i thought (and still think) he’s the perfect choice for the role from the very moment his casting was announced. We’re complaining, however, about the technical and artistic aspect of the poster, which didn’t do the movie or rob justice IMHO. So easy on the paranoia and don’t get defensive ok? Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and sometimes they’re just telling the truth.

But im still going to see it and i think all you ppl who hate it should keep it to yourselves seriously!

Courtney said,

I disagree that the movie is “soo different.” First of all, it is nearly impossible to perfectly adapt a story from page to screen. We can’t hear Bella’s thoughts, so some things have to be changed. For example, they didn’t film the months after the accident when Edward ignores Bella. How boring would that be? So they added a field trip scene to improvise. I can see it now: fellow Twilighters protesting, “that was NOT in the book!!!” But take it for what it is. The production team has more to consider than just sticking by the book. They need to make money. We all want sequels don’t we?

All things considered, I’m very impressed with how similar the movie and book seem to be.

Dannie said,

I agree with Courtney. If you had looked at some of the other adaptions you’d realize by comparison twilight the movie is actually being very faithful to its source material (judging from the trailers and online footages we’re seen so far). Film adaptations by their nature always (and have to) differs from the books upon which they’re based. Changes are necessary in an adapting process for the movie version to be sucessful, or to work on the big screen, to say the very least. It doesn’t matter if they cut, add or change scenes as long as the central theme and the essence of the story is there. I don’t know if the movie will be hit, but the one thing i’m certain of is that if the mvoie had followed every word in the book, it would defintiely fail. Nobody wants to see and hear bella’s monologues and swooning for edward and saying how he’s the most beautiful creature in the world during the 2/3 of the movie (at least i don’t). How boring would that be?
