final robin hood trailer Final Robin Hood Trailer Earns Anticipation

The final full-length trailer for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood has been officially released and it is truly epic.  The teaser trailer and international trailer for the retelling of the story of the prince of thieves left viewers with mixed reactions and a lot of fair comparisons to Gladiator, the previous period piece epic that the pairing of Scott and star Russell Crowe worked together on.

While I was cautious and somewhat concerned about their take on Robin Hood from what we’ve seen before and while I certainly saw the close similarities in style and characters between Robin Hood and Gladiator, this new trailer has completely sold me as a must-see film of this summer.

To give you a hint; This Robin Hood trailer presents the film as a much larger scale epic with more story and character moments than anything you’ve seen before for this movie. Check it out to see for yourself:

The trailer provides plenty of story elements and a lot more of the supporting characters including Mark Strong’s Sir Godfrey and Cate Blanchett’s Maid Marian. We’re also presented with several scenes of Oscar Isaac’s Prince John and lots of arrow action, which Robin Hood is all about.

The story of Robin Hood is always ripe for theatrical adaptations and this one has a powerful cast and crew behind it. Needless to say, I can now recommend this movie to everyone and will be checking it out when it opens. This trailer certainly helps Robin Hood solidify its position in Screen Rant’s most anticipated films of 2010.

Robin Hood stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Matthew Macfadyen, Mark Strong, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, William Hurt and Max von Sydow. It opens early this summer on May 14th, 2010.

  1. hell yea only ridley scott can make a movie like this now a days. this is just another classic to add to gladiator excalibur kingdom of heaven etc…

  2. So glad to hear that this film is now being recommended whole-heartedly! I've been so excited about it since I heard the first whispers a couple of years back. It's hard to beat Crowe and Scott together!

  3. “ripe for theatrical adaptations”

Ah, but “D-Day” like landing craft. Does that make sense?

  4. idk why but I am just not interested in this at all. Not when I heard Crowe was starring or when Scott was directing, I just am not interested in this movie at all and it's odd because I feel as though I normally would be. Eh, guess I won't be seeing this one, at least not in theaters.

  5. Of COURSE Cate Blanchette dons armor and joins the fight.
Because that whole idea that in the middle ages women were instilled from the earliest age with the idea that they were inferior to men? Total myth.
Sure, there was an air of sexism about things but most women were secretly tough, free-spirited warrior women. I mean, it's not like were often horribly beaten at even the slightest show of will or defiance. Gack. Gack I say. Am I the only one who wants to see a period movie that accurately portrays women in the middle ages?

  6. I have no idea why, honestly, but from the moment I first heard of this project I didn’t have any interested. I heard Scott was directing and Crowe was going to be Robin Hood, and I still didn’t get interested. I saw the first trailer and still no interest. But after seeing this trailer, I must say…..

I’m still not interested at all. lol

IDK why I’m not interested in this at all, but I’m just not feeling it. Guess I’ll be skipping out on this one.

  7. Looks good, but I really hope it's not just another Gladiator. Not that I dislike Gladiator, but if Scott and Crowe are doing something together, I'd prefer it to be different.

  8. Yes, it started of great. But a girl fighting? That's more for Pirates otC, not for a more accurate film. And I had the same thought as 'the_old_man', what the hell are those D-Day landingcraft?

  9. I won't nitpick the girl fighting part because Scott obviously isn't going for an accurately told period piece. I do however love the music now. Hope the rest of the soundtrack lives up to it.

  10. Joan of Arc anyone?

And those land craft aren't from the future. They had boats to ferry troops back then…

  11. Am I the only one who sooooo preferred the original plot that Nottingham was going to be the good guy? Not that that kind of reversal of good and evil would be what I would normally choose, but it would make it a far different movie than the rest of the Robin Hood movies.

As for Blanchette being the “warrior woman”, I think it's great as long as she can pull it off without overacting. I've seen time and again women who play the soldier and make it feel entirely out of place.

Overall I'm sorta excited about this movie, Gladiator being one of my all time favorite movies, and since this seems like gladiator with arrows, it could prove to be pretty entertaining.

  12. yea the first 2 trailers sucked but that one was freakin awsome seein this for sure.

  13. Man that looks beyond great I have to see it Mark Strong looks killer where did that guy come from I mean he just popped up in Rocknrolla and now he is in every good movie

  14. I hope this is a blockbuster and that the phrase “Until Lambs become Lions” rises to become part of the American pop culture because its meaning is omething very much needed these days with so many in America seeming to so willingly hande over freedom to the government for half thruths and lies of promises for protection from the boogeyman.

We need more Lions from Lambs for we have seen too many Lions become Lambs.

  15. Well, I was pretty skeptical of the whole thing when I thought they were going back to the same old naive “Robin Hood robs from the rich and gives to the poor” BS, but this one doesn't seem to talk at all about that, just a story about an unjust king and Robin Hood leading an uprising against him. So not too bad I guess, I'll see how the reviews look when it comes out.

  16. I had to play the trailer again and pause it to check I wasn't hallucinating. I find it difficult to imagine anyone around that time designing a blunt wooden vessel with a ramp for a prow. Wouldn't fancy my chances rowing that lump on a millpond, let alone the open sea…

  17. I've just realised the invaders are supposed to be Normans. Apparently one of my ancestors came over with this lot in the 12th century (Robin Hood sort of time). If he made it across the English Channel on a heap like that then fair play to him!

  18. I think many of us were in love with that idea and while I'm said they didn't go that route, I think this trailer is bad-ass.

  19. This Robin Hood movie doesnt affect the original that Kevin Costner starred in “ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES” directed by Kevin Reynolds.

  20. cant put my finger on it maybe its her age and seeing her as Elizabeth, I just cant see Cate as the Maiden Marian even though I hust saw her in the trailer I m not happy with her in that role.

  21. To be honest this film look overdone, anyone remember the Mummy Returns….. In saying that, I'm still gonna watch it (just for that fact that it's a Ridley Scott film with Russel Crowe).

  22. who cares people,it's a decent robin hood movie, the rest were poor attempts, this trailer is already better than them, let it go people, forget about perfection and just enjoy the romance of robin hood.not the mushy stuff, but who he is and what he stands for.

  23. The original?

  24. What are you going on about?

  25. Are you serious? Have you seen either Mel Gibson film THE PATRIOT or BRAVEHEART? They share a common theme with what this trailer implies in the new Robin Hood and the quote which is featured prominently in the trailer, that reads 'Until Labms Become Lions'.

If you are part of the younger generation (30 or less) then this may not make much sense as so many of that generation and younger seem to have no problems with relenquishing things like Privacy and 2 to 3 or even more of the basic rights guaranteed in our constituition.

You can either choose to mock this and call it whatever you like or you can see the reallity of whats going on and see why this film could be as important as BRAVEHEART or THE PATRIOT in making poeple remember the price of giving over to tyrannny, of standing by and either doping nothing or mocking those who do decide to do something.
