I'm as giddy as a schoolboy I cant wait to see this movie I'm an Jones fan Harrison Ford what ecver he has done has always been good

I do see new Age religion in this movie if you see or saw search for skull crystals on sci fi channel
there are 13 of them 8 have been found.
you know someone has an agenda here
indy is loosely based on Mitchel Hedges 1924 expedition to south America to recover a crystal skull!

I love to lose myself in a good adventure and for get the real world concentrate on the story and not the actors
movies are art and art depicts life
evensome of the most gruesome movies the slashers and the worst war flicks you could find depicts the human condition

Something I always loved about the Indy movies is they had THE BEST punching sound fx. When Indy's fist hits face, it cracks like his whip. So unrealistic but so awesome

Well Stephen, I can tell your not Cory Feldman, but maybe Speilberg????? You did say you liked "Temple of Doom"? Haha.jk. Btw I'm in my 40's even though you can't tell from my crap grammer. Haha.

Yeah I work inside the biz as well here in Burbank California. And yeah I often walk around big names. I usually (if I'm a fan) will say "nice work in" or something like that but to ask for an autograph is kinda "green" everyones expected to act professionally around the talent. I did have a geek out moment at 24 and talked to Brannon Braga for about 8 min about Star Trek Voyager. He was the coolest guy ever, same with Manny Cotto. There all very approcable. But mostly I avoid getting too personal with the actors because it takes away the magic (IMO).
I do remember the one time I was standing next to Robert Downey Jr. Very cool chap.
^
I agree the time travel aspect could (if not done perfectly) hurt the Indy franchise. He's more of an artifact finder than a lost contanant guy. They should prob leave Time Travel to Star Trek.

I'm also thinking that Speilberg put in a sequel type ending in this new film. In the same way that Raiders was left off. (Warehouse scene). I just hope the ending to "Crystal Skull" isn't as over the top as "Final Crusades" ending. (Holly Grail guardian). That was a streeeeach......

Also I've heard there in pre-production on Jurassic 4.btw.
Speilberg co-prod.

Anyway.....
Allways good to read your posts Stephen!!!!
Rock on my BROTHA man.

Actually if I could spell and correct the before-mentioned word BROTHA, it would be cooler, but alas, I cannot go back to edit my post...

790
790,
790!!!

;)

Thank you for the nice compliment, it's a pleasure talking with you too. As for my info, I certainly hope no one will figure out who I am and by that I mean my colleagues. :/

It's just a bit hard when you're working in the business that you've more or less been brought up with, admiring and loving the creative minds that build dreams and doorways to other worlds, even if it's just for a short 2 hour trip. I still enjoy 'bumping' into people I see on the big screen, but I never ever, asked them for an autograph... I savour the moment I have with them instead. I think they appreciate being treated like people too.

Anyway, dude I hope I don't sound too old. Cause I'm not... :{
;)

But the time travel idea wouldn't be 'organic' enough for the Indiana Jones mythology. The only thing that would make sense would be, to have the time travel take place only to solve a problem between two times. One being on Bermuda and the other in ancient times on Atlantis. But even that would be very tricky to pull of without becoming too sci fi like. But then we'll see if they'll push for a 5th episode. I know Harrison is up for it, I don't think Lucas would object, but then he's also working on that fighter pilot story he's been dying to make for the past 17 years if not more. I think they'll start production soon. It might actually be quite spectacular. As for Spielberg I have no clue what he's doing. I think he's doing some period film or something. And whatever happened to Jurassic 4?

Glad to hear that Shia La B, isn't Indy's kid. :)
Or IS he? ;)

Take care my BROTAH (said with the voice of Desmond from LOST)

;)

Stephen
Stephen'
Stephen'!
Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner on this. (I went to see Iron Man today).
I really love your perspectives btw. Your one of the best bloggers on this site!
Your experience and info is very fun to read!

On the Atlantis time travel plot that sounds like a good point for Indy 5.
I agree they should use Roswell artifacts as a backdrop , (it would blow me away if they show the "crash"). :-)

From what I've read , Shia La Beowf? Isn't Indys kid. He's a student. (I'm pretty sure I spelled his name wrong).
Rock on Bro!

Hey 790,

Well, what do I think about the Roswell approach? I have to be honest, with all the versions of Indiana Jones and the lost city of Atlantis and it's many, many, many versions, I think reading some of them, not all of them, there is a typical element that keeps cropping up.

If a story is well written, even an ending with a talking monkey in the end can be executed brilliantly. Sure it's not easy, but then who said movie making is suppose to be easy. :)

My take on this is, that if done well, we can connect the mythology and legacy with everything that's been connected to Roswell via Indiana Jones. Naturally ALL in the Indy Universe.

What I mean by this is, that he could be the reason in the Indy Universe to include that part of our history. Also, it was quite a big deal back then and if they can connect Dr. Jones to that event with honesty and a certain continuity, I think it would make a pretty good story.

Again, I don't know anything about this story, I've tried to keep off of reading treatments and such because I need to get as surprised when I first watch it as possible. Then there's also the fact that I'm no longer as close to Lucas Film as I used to be and then even if I was, I wouldn't be able to know much about the main story.

I can't really remember any of the other story lines that involved Atlantis as I didn't read all scripts or treatments. I read just one first draft and a few treatments. There was one with a portal which would allow Indy to travel through time. The portal was open in real time meaning if he had only 10min to get in and do his business, then that's all he had. Seemed a bit messy when I read it so I gave up on that story. But the first Atlantis story was very interesting. Don't know why we didn't never went for that. But then, it's almost 10 years ago I read it so, a lot might have been in the way... like Star Wars for one.

I personally don't mind Roswell being apart of the story, as I always thought it was. Like the enormous warehouse with thousands of boxes... I always imagined that being at Area S-4 or 54.

I just hope they make the Indiana Jones become the main story line in the movie and place Roswell in the background as part of HIS story, rather than making him BECOME part of that. If you take my meaning.

I really am looking forward to the score... I hope it turns out well... Also, the movie naturally :)

Oh and the Bermuda Triangle story was part of the first Indy Atlantis story I read... if memory serves... As for Karen, I don't remember what it was that couldn't make Karen join Indy 2, but, I'm happy to see the contrast... after all... we've had 3 very wonderfully different women all very much in love with Dr. Jones. :)

I'm just wondering about the kid... I hope it's not his son, but I did read some note somewhere saying, Professor Jones' kid. I just don't know where I got that from. Something about Marion, brought together with Jones, via her son? I hope not...

But then... let's just see what Lucas and Spielberg will serve for dinner that wonderful day at the end of this month!

I hope I don't get food poisoning!!

Oooh oooo! Here we go with the food analogies again... sorry...

I’m just wondering about the kid… I hope it’s not his son, but I did read some note somewhere saying, Professor Jones’ kid. I just don’t know where I got that from. Something about Marion, brought together with Jones, via her son? I hope not…

But then… let’s just see what Lucas and Spielberg will serve for dinner that wonderful day at the end of this month!

I hope I don’t get food poisoning!!

Oooh oooo! Here we go with the food analogies again… sorry…

Stephen, good post.
Yeah I know a lot of people that like Temple of Doom, its not as hated as you may think.
Also good points on the casting of Kate vs Karen.
I'm prob wrong on this but I remember there was a reason Karen couldn't do the film back then. (I cant remember what it was)

Stephen I would love to read more about tha Atlantis treatment?? I mean Atlantis is underwater (Burmuda Triangle). ???

Stephen what do you think about this Roswell angle there taking on?

I have to admit, I prefer the first three movies in reverse order:

1.Crusade
2.Doom
3.Raiders.

As much as I love Karen, I really enjoyed the diferent character played by Kate Capshaw. It felt abit less "formular". I had fun with all the sequels. Looking forward to this one too.

Andy,

I doubt Indy 2 would have worked with Karen... Remember the role Kate had to play wasn't quite Karen's style. Besides, the good thing about Kate was that she played the role well, in fact she made it fun because she seemed like such a brat in it. She was just making Indy's life impossible at times. It was a nice combination for me. She was whiny and annoying at the right times. And she was really beautiful.

Remember Karen is a "Do it your self" kind of a girl and Kate's role was "I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BY MY SELF" kind of a girl. That's why it worked so well.

Also because of Kate's role, the film was lighter than darker if Karen had resumed her role. Kate offered a different humor to the Indy saga. I personally LOVE Temple of Doom, it's deliciously mysterious in all the right places. It was also needed to show that Indiana Jones wasn't just out to find Christian relics and artifacts. He was in fact a man who was first and foremost a historian and an archeologist, saving what history human kind had. So putting him in this role of saving a village was great. That's why I hope that this new Indy actually does a bit of the mystical aspects again and moves a way from the Christianity part because having read the first draft of the Atlantis concept, I got a bit stuck on that idea. Anyone who read the Atlantis treatment would understand why I really hope they'll do something in that direction.

I love Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, they had the perfect way of using Christianity in an exciting and DaVincian way if you take my meaning. The best films about Christianity and it's story was done in the Indy films... Cause I can't remember anything else unless it's horror and well... that's not quite the same. ;)

So...

Yes.. folks there you have it... I'm a Temple of Doom fan...

The question on most people's lips these days, even in the industry (after all we're as big a fans as everyone else) is just how true is Indy 4 in comparison to the original stories?

In the end, all we can hope is that, the way Lucas has always admired Spielberg, will allow him to let Spielberg do what he used to be best at... and that's telling fantastic and amazing adventurous stories.

Note to people... If Indy 4 WILL end up being a worthy part of the Trilogy, you can rest assured that if Lucas had given Spielberg the keys to drive the new Star Wars Saga, he would have had a VERY different Star Wars 1,2 and 3 today.

But then ANYONE doing it would have done a different job...

Do you have ANY idea just how close it was that we almost had a Spielberg Star Wars? VERY close...

Sorry went off topic... but the point is that it's going to be wonderful to see Harrison do Indy again and see some old faces too... I just miss Salah... but in this story it wouldn't make much sense to have him included. :(

Vic,

I told you that you'd see the light!

It looks like they're carrying the wit and style of The Last Crusade into this film. Great.

I think that this new trailer is outstanding and it's good to see that Ford still has the goods.

Less than three weeks folks. Looks like I'd better do my homework and watch the first three films again.

Who cares if Capshaw is Speilberg's wife? What in the world does that have to do with her in Temple of Doom?? IMO, she was a drop-off in character from Karen Allen. Always crying "INDY!" Talk about nepotism!! They could have EASILY had Karen Allen in Temple.

Yeah Steven, Kate was awesome in Temple of Doom. I don't think some of the younger gen here knows her relationship with Speilberg. :-)

And yea Vics a diabolical mastermind genius ...he's been sublimnally marketing Iron Man to us all along. . Lol.!

Yeah I was wondering who would actually pick up on the blond bimbo... glad you caught that 790... :)

Kate's a real nice person... so I have only positive things to say about her... actually I liked her in Indy 2... but you know what? I'm a big fan of the second episode... that's the kind of Indy story that I liked...

I'm probably going to get shot by someone here cause I said it, but that's the truth. I love Indy part 2.

I never met Karen, but I do remember her from Animal House... ;)

I have fond memories from that movie... :D

I love how we have to write Stark into the field... makes me think of TONY STARK. :)
