The summer season is upon us with big movies X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Star Trek already out in theaters and plenty more on the way. The next biggie for me is Terminator Salvation which opens in just two weeks.
Similar to Trek and Wolverine, there’s already talk of sequels for Terminator Salvation. If the trailers we’ve seen so far for this movie are any indicator, then that talk is certainly justified. However, I’m starting to get just a wee bit worried with the release of this extended trailer.

This lengthy teaser, which runs around four minutes, reveals many new scenes while re-showing us or extending scenes we’ve seen so far. The fact that we’re being shown so much makes me worry that the studio doesn’t think the movie will be so great and that they’re trying to show off as much as possible to bring the crowds in.
The trailer below seems to sum up much of the movie and to me, it reveals quite a lot about the plot and how certain events and character meet-ups occur. So, if you don’t want to know any more about Terminator Salvation before it opens, you may want to avoid this video. Otherwise, enjoy:
I’m no longer getting the “this is awesome” vibe that I got from the previous full trailer (which is my favorite trailer of the year by the way). Perhaps, that is because I’ve simply been over-saturated with marketing material for this movie and all the vehicles, robots and explosions I’ve seen many times over in the TV spots.
Is it just me, or do some of the CGI elements look pretty weak?
I’m excited for this movie regardless and can’t wait to see it!

The opening can’t come soon enough. The running time scares me though. Seems a little too short for a terminator flick.
I’m just found of Bale and anything he is in to me is worth watching, Harsh Times anyone?

I didn’t watch the trailer because of the reasons Rob mentioned (over saturation). But Rob does make a good point about showing soo many trailers just 2 weeks before the movie. Maybe their thinking they want to beat Wolvie in weekend gross? Don’t know and they shouldn’t worry about that. The fan base for Terminator is huge and even if they don’t match $87 million in a weekend, they will get a huge profit overall. Hopefully they are not thinking the movie isn’t as good as it looks.

So I just watched the extended trailer and I see lots of close up action shots that will most likely make my head spin and get me dizzy. I’m hoping that is not the case but either way the movie should do very well opening weekend and should be quite enjoyable to watch.
I think the trailer is awesome..these kind of doubts do arise when too much marketing is done but a movie like salvation deserves all this publicity.I think we will have to wait for the movie to know about the special effects.Bale isn’t actually a great actor but he still manages to do justice to his roles in almost all his films,can’t wait to see it ,b/w that bike thingy is just amazing

I was looking into IMAX theaters and there is one in Virgina (Dullus) right at the Air and Space Museum; I may see Terminator there and take the kids to see Transformers right after visiting the museum.
The trailer looks great, as much as it is an action movie, as previously reported by the first review, the story looks like it’s pretty good and has some substance.

My initial concern is that this long-awaited movie will overdo it, much like Attack of the Clones. After seeing this latest trailer, my concern is that it will try to be too clever. I am sure it will be good, but nothing will ever touch the original.
Oversaturation? Maybe, but they’re going up against two big opponents in Wolverine & Star Trek. It could be that McG feels he has to prove something, given that his resume is hardly stellar and many feel he was the wrong person for the job. The movie also has the dauting task of reaching fans without Arnold Schwarzenegger, who basically IS the Terminator franchise to a lot of people.

You’re right dude, big competition with flashy big budget movies. Not to mention to mention the pg-13 rating opens them up for the younger audiences who will likely be seeing ‘Up’ in 3-D the following week.

It’s so close to release, I’m not even going to watch this trailer, I kind of wish I haven’t seen any of them, so many things could have been cooler if I don’t see it coming… I’ll see the movie in, what, 2 weeks?
@ Rachel, I have some of the same concerns, but it looks like the action should be entertaining enough. But I’m not going to expect it to match or surpass Terminator 2 because then I’m just setting myself up for disappointment…

Still looks decent though as long as the run time is over 90 minutes it should be very good.
I think Terminator Salvation will be fun but at the same time it will piss me off because Mcg will get it wrong, he already has,,,
I’ve learned to accept that my favorite films and tv show adaptation’s will get boned as the new generation gets the opportunity to do what they want. Urg!
