Wind the clock back to last fall and you might recall a fan-made Expendables 2 poster that spread like wildfire around the Internet. That’s because it stacked up close to every one of the sequel’s macho stars – including, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis – along with the (token?) female Expendable Maggie, played by Yu Nan.

Some 8 months and a dozen character posters later, and Lionsgate has finally unveiled its own ensemble one-sheet for Expendables 2. The aforementioned iconic tough guys of the big screen are on display here, along with familiar players like Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren – plus, new additions Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Liam Hemsworth (no girls allowed, apparently – sorry Maggie).

Here is a studio-sanctioned plot summary for Expendables 2, followed by the final poster (via Yahoo! Movies):

Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney (Stallone) and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary (Van Damme) who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way….

Just like the Expendables 2 trailers and TV spots, the final poster is full to the brim with muscular men, guns, knives, weaponry, fire, and explosions; in other words, everything this testosterone-fest promises to deliver in boatloads (with some enjoyably cheesy one-liners and bro-centric drama to boot). This new poster doesn’t unite all of the movie’s manly stars in the most stylish configuration imaginable – but it gets the job done, and still looks more polished than previous Photoshop jobs for this year’s blockbuster slate (see: the final one-sheets for The Avengers and Dark Knight Rises).

Look for The Expendables 2 to hit theaters around the U.S. on August 17th, 2012.

  1. Does anyone else agree Scott Adkins should have been included in the poster??

    • No space lol

  2. Awesome poster.

Also Dave123, Scott Adkins is credited at the bottom of the poster where the writers, the editor and the director is credited too.

Still I hope The Expendables 2 turn out to be great and show people that the action gerne isn’t dead and breaks lots of records.

    • nobody ever said or suspected that the ‘action’ genre is dead.

  3. Put Scott Adkins on the poster

  4. Jason Statham does not exactly fit the job description for being an expendable of being
older and coming back to prove you can can still to do it. He is younger and still doing it.
Jason does fit the old school expendable style profile though and it that sense he belongs.

  5. i really hope jet li isn’t the one that is killed off (but i bet it is) :(
imo if they use scott to the best of his ability, this might be the movie to throw him into main stream hollywood and have him being cast in bigger roles, the guy is a beast and knows how to kick a** with style.

all i hope for is that he isn’t wasted potential like gary daniels in the 1st, and that the statham and adkins fight is reasonably length and 50/50 not just statham acting like he knows wtf he’s doing (like in all his dodgy action movies).

  6. I would love to see Kate Beckinsale added to the cast in the next sequel.

    • I think you are missing the point of these movies.

  7. Too bad they couldn’t get these guys in a movie together in the 90′s when some of them weren’t quite so ancient. I never seen the first expendables so I don’t know if it’s all action with no script (Well….I guess with this group that’s pretty much business as usual) Still it might be worth checking out…Once it comes to HBO or such…

    • watch the directors cut, that is more in line with old school action movies (in terms of script seriousness and action) and in terms of age, all the actors perform above and beyond, even sly who broke his neck and ankle managed to put on a good show (most the cast did their own stunt work, sly even performed a pretty complex submission on his own (same scene where steve austin broke his neck)).

  8. The first was a fun ride to watch, and i would say this one will be too, just dont expect some huge great script or anything but really good actors and some good ole fashion action.

  9. It’s funny how they have the younger guys to the left and older guys to the right….

    • jet li…

  10. Mel Gibson is missing.

  11. don’t think they can get Mel…and kurt Russel said he was done with action movies a good while back…something about the extra effort to get in shape or something.

was thinking it would have been badass back in the day, clint eastwood was not so old and Charles Bronson was still around…well maybe Clint could play a villain in a future film?

Could also add Snipes when he gets out of prison

  12. add clint eastwood kurt russel even if he does not want to work out, Mel Gibson would be awesome,Zoe Saldana, and Kate Beckinsale.

  13. as soon as I saw this poster my testosterone level went up

  14. Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford & Liam Neeson for the 3rd Movie!

  15. I think Dwayne Johnson is a definite shoe-in for the third movie!
Here are my picks for Ex3:
    Dwayne Johnson
    Kurt Russell
    Wesley Snipes
    Idris Elba

  16. How are Terry Crews and Randy Couture exactly?

  17. the star of the time
