Already planning a Valentine's Day treat for your significant other in 2015? Look no further than Sam Taylor-Johnson's forthcoming adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, which stars Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time) as playboy billionaire Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson (The Social Network) as Anastasia Steele, a graduate student who crosses paths with Christian when she goes to interview him about his career.

There's more to Christian than just money and good looks, however. Ana soon discovers that this smooth-talking entrepreneur likes things a little bit rougher when the curtains are drawn. Or, to use his own phrasing,"I like to whip little brown-haired girls like you because you all look like the crack w***e - my birth mother." OK, "smooth-talking" may have been an exaggeration.

To make the wait until Fifty Shades of Grey's release slightly less excruciating, the first official still of Dornan as Christian Grey has now been revealed. The bad news is that it's even tamer than the cast images that were released when filming first began, and only shows Christian taking a firm grasp of the steering wheel and gazing ambiguously into the camera. He is, however, wearing a very nice leather jacket and showing off a hint of cleavage.

Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey

"Fifty Shades of Grey," the erotic romance novel upon which the movie is based, was penned by author E.L. James and was originally written as Twilight fan fiction (something that's still evident in the characterization of the two leads). As of February this year, 100 million copies of the Fifty Shades trilogy have been sold worldwide. It's fair to say that there's already a built-in audience for the movie, which will be R rated upon its initial release but may get a more explicit NC-17 cut later.

It will be interesting to see whether Fifty Shades of Grey acts as a springboard for the careers of its leads, both of whom are relative newcomers, or whether it ends up having a similar impact as, for example, Showgirls on Elizabeth Berkley's career. At one point Christian was going to played by Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam, who later dropped out, and Emma Watson responded to rumors of her being cast as Ana with the incredulous tweet, "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life."
