‘Beware the Batman’ Trailer & Images: CGI Animated Dark Knight Action

Batman has a long and illustrious cartoon history with The Super Friends, Batman: The Animated Series, and Batman Beyond serving as a gateway drug to Gotham and the Dark Knight for generations. Since the turn of the century, though, we’ve seen less and less of the Caped Crusader on TV, with Warner Bros. and DC turning more toward direct-to-DVD animated films like Batman: Year One and the fantastic anthology film, Batman: Gotham Knight.

Now, DC Nation and Cartoon Network are picking up the baton last held by the light and fun Batman: The Brave and the Bold and handing it to Beware the Batman, and now we have a new trailer for the long awaited series.

With a summer blockbuster as big as Guillermo del Toro’s robots vs. monsters movie Pacific Rim, it’s understandable that Legendary Pictures would begin planning for a sequel, and had already commissioned a sequel script from Travis Beacham by December 2012. Based on this fact, and the fact that del Toro has been dropping hints about the sequel’s development for some time now, you’d expected Pacific Rim 2 to be a done deal already.

James’ Twilight fan-faction-turned best-selling erotic novel – to be directed by a filmmaker with serious arthouse cred, such as Atonement and Anna Karenina director Joe Wright (among other rumored candidates).

‘The Spectacular Now’ First Trailer & Poster: Modern Teen Love Story

Fans of James Ponsoldt’s 2012 indie hit, Smashed, can rejoice: the trailer for his latest picture, The Spectacular Now, has popped up on the Web. Watch it above.

Coming on the heels of high praise from Sundance (as well as smaller festivals like the Independent Film Festival of Boston), the film follows gregarious, directionless high school senior Sutter Keely (Miles Teller) as he parties and drinks his way through his final year of secondary education. He also falls in love with Aimee Finicky (Shailene Woodley), the quiet, nice girl he never thought twice about until the morning he woke up after passing out on her lawn.

Free Birds – previously titled Turkeys – is the first feature-length 3D animated theatrical release for Real FX Creative Studios (Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away). The trailer makes the story appear to be all over the map, as it starts off headed in one direction – with a smarter-than-average turkey becoming the U.S. president’s daughter’s pet – before suddenly heading off in a completely different direction and turning into a wacky buddy/time-travel adventure.

‘Arrow’ Showrunner to Direct Sci-fi Movie ‘Epsilon’ from ‘Zombieland’ Writers

The CW’s vigilante justice show Arrow recently drew to a very dramatic close in its season 1 finale, but it won’t be gone for long. The show was renewed for season 2 a while ago, due to its highly successful ratings, and star Stephen Amell has promised that when the show returns we’ll find the characters very much changed by the events at the end of “Sacrifice”, and has suggested that Oliver Queen may have left Starling City entirely.

In 12 Years a Slave, award-winner Chiwetel Ejiofor – a fan-favorite thanks to his roles in sci-fi fare like Serenity and Children of Men – portray Solomon Northup, a real-life African-American musician who lived and raised his family in pre-Civil War New York. In 1841, Northup was tricked, kidnapped and sold into slavery, based on the lie that he was a runaway from Georgia; he thereafter spent (you guessed it) twelve years enslaved in the South, before he finally regained his freedom.

‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ Trailer: Welcome to the 1980s

It’s been a good nine years since last we saw Ron “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” Burgandy (Will Ferrell) on the big screen in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy. Will Ferrell, of course, has had plenty of box office successes in the time since – e.g., Talladega Nights and Megamind - but nothing that has really surpassed Anchorman in terms of pop cultural recognition. Maybe that’s why he’s making Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

The sequel, co-written and directed by Adam McKay, sees the return of Burgandy’s team – Bryan (Paul Rudd), Brick (Steve Carell), and Champ (David Koechner) – to the news after years of being off the air, this time in the always hilarious 1980s. Cue the Journey music.

It may have taken years from the time it was first announced, but Warner Bros. has finally revealed the first trailer for The LEGO Movie. The trailer doesn’t reveal much of the plot, but does show off the form of stop motion photography that will be bringing the short, yellow characters to life.

Featuring a star-studded cast – led by Guardians of the Galaxy frontman Chris Pratt – and the likes of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, the film looks to offer laughs and action for far more than just fans of the multi-colored toys.

Some of the drama behind the making of Sony and NBC’s continuing education comedy show Community has been almost as fascinating to watch as the show itself. Creator and showrunner Dan Harmon was unceremoniously fired from the show after season 3, and he subsequently issued an account of his deposition in which he stated flatly: “I’m not saying you can’t make a good version of ‘Community’ without me, but I am definitely saying that you can’t make my version of it.”

Last week, the rumor emerged that Universal intends to release Jurassic Park 4 in theaters by 2015 – after yanking the sci-fi blockbuster from its previously-announced 2014 release date – and now, we have more formal confirmation that the studio plans to release the dino adventure over the next two years (from the time of writing this).

Coming Soon spotted a Jurassic Park 4 banner at the 2013 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas that includes the unspecified 2015 release date; though, according to the previous report on the matter, Universal is aiming for a Summer premiere date. The success of The Walking Dead has set a promising precedent for AMC, as even amidst the current zombie fashion that has gripped modern media, there was always an element of risk attached to commissioning a weekly drama steeped in all the blood and guts of the horror genre. Nonetheless, The Walking Dead has become AMC’s most commercially successful property so far, with producers excitedly talking about keeping the series going for ten years or more.
