AMC has released a new video that previews season 3 of its hit TV series Fear the Walking Dead, a spin-off of The Walking Dead. Fear the Walking Dead takes place the during the period in which The Walking Dead's protagonist, Rick Grimes, was stuck in a coma.

At the end of Season 2, Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) was out on her own when she crossed the Mexico-U.S. border, only to be ambushed by an American with a rifle. Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis), and Alicia (Alysa Debnam-Carey) left the safety of the hotel after Travis was exiled for killing another survivor. Strand (Colman Domingo) declined to go with them and stayed behind at the hotel. Madison and the others found out from a dying Alejandro that Nick (Frank Dillane) was also on his way to the border. Meanwhile, Nick, Luciana (Danay Garcia) and the rest of their group were attacked by men in military gear. After being cut off from the others, Nick and Luciana were captured.

The video (see above) gives fans insight into what's ahead for our main characters, when Fear the Walking Dead resumes. What we can learn from the video is that between seasons Madison, Travis, and Alisha were taken into custody. We'll see Travis struggle to redeem himself after failing to protect his son, Chris, who died in season 2. More focus will be put on Madison and her role as a leader, and Alisha as she continues to adjust to life in the zombie apocalypse. Coming to terms with their new lives appears to be one of the main themes of the new season. We can also expect more character development for Nick, Strand, and Luciana. Ofelia's fate isn't mentioned in the video.

Another character that is noticeably absent from the video is Ofelia's father, Salazar (Ruben Blades), who appeared to die in season 2. However, it has since been revealed that Salazar is returning in Fear the Walking Dead season 3 - though details beyond that remain under-wraps for the time being.

In addition, Luciana will be promoted from a recurring character to a main cast member in Fear the Walking Dead's third season. The season will also add three new regulars to the cast: Jeremiah, Troy, and Jake Otto, played by Dayton Callie, Daniel Sherman, and Sam Underwood, respectively. The new season will also be the longest to date with 16 episodes, making it one episode longer than season 2. Prior to the premiere date of the show's third season, AMC has already ordered Fear the Walking Dead season 4.
